A life changing blog, part 1

Where do I start? It's been so long since I've posted on here on a regular basis. For those of you who know me, this won't be anything new to you. I guess I'll start with an event which happened in March. A life changing event. This seems to be the most logical place to start.

On Sunday, March 15th, I went out to breakfast with a dear friend of mine. Because of work schedules and family commitments, we're only able to get together once every couple of months. We can spend hours… Continue

Fixation of a Broken Heart

Why is it we become fixated on tragic events

Such as a broken heart?

Certainly good things happen in life

But bad memories seem easier to recall I suppose.

I have never met anyone who has claimed

To have never had one ounce of good in their life.

Yet bitterness seems to take over

And while grasping the heart,

Sinks thorny barbs into its beating flesh

Squeezing the pulsating tissue until a wall of concrete

Ten feet deep and ten miles high… Continue

Illusions of You

You stepped into my life

If only for awhile.

Your friendship brought

Calm in my stormy sea.

At times I felt I was near insanity

But you caressed my hand,

Calmed my fears,

And quieted my tears.

You showed me

The turmoil within

And taught me to look

Toward the distant horizon.

I never thought we would be apart

But nothing ever stays the same.

Another cruel lesson learned

Was that you weren't perfect as I… Continue

Inner Demons

Sometimes I feel my heart will break.

It aches with such intensity

But I try to keep it under control.

I force it into a little iron box

And wrap it up so tight

So it seems it will surely smother.

I constantly tell myself

It is better to be alone.

When I am all alone,

No one can cause me pain or grief.

The only thing causing me pain

Is the fear and distrust within myself.

Lately, my heart has been rebelling

Against the… Continue

Chester Bennington and Linkin Park

Working in the same bakery for almost ten years has allowed me to meet some pretty nice people. Some of these people I'm honored to consider friends. Others leave marks and even though I would never be so bold to call them friends, I still consider them pretty cool.

Take for instance Chester Bennington of Linkin Park. When he's in town, we see him from time to time. He seems to be a pretty decent guy. Now if you asked me about Linkin Park, I'd tell you I wouldn't be able to pick out… Continue

FML

Today a team I coach won a tournament. We've been having a tough time this season with games where we've played well but don't always get the results we deserve. But this weekend the team were brilliant.

Tonight I get an email from parents requesting a meeting with me to discuss their son's playing time.

The last tournament one of my teams won earlier this season was followed by a phone-call from a parent who wanted to discuss their daughters playing… Continue

exorcising my emoticon demons (aka "why the OGC emoticon is an essential part of any post because it so adequately expresses deep human emotion")

let me start by making it very clear that i have nothing against most people who use emoticons......i understand that sometimes a simple "i'm really bummed out today" is more easily expressed by a little blue orb with giant sad eyes......

well, sort of.....

what i can't seem to get a handle on is the gargantuan library of these annoying little fuckers (search google images) that is available to every idiot that, thinking they're "soooo adorable", feels the need to use at… Continue

drippy trip overflow--too long

We eat them on a couple of cold, limp slices of spinach pizza. Then we walk to the liquor store to pick up some beer.

By the time we are back to Andrew's apartment they have already kicked in, hard. My tongue is buzzing and my hands are something seperate from me, always moving. This makes me laugh. An uncontrollable, whole face laugh. I crack a beer and put it down. We're in his basement apartment, and it feels like a cave. His upstairs neighbors are having a party, so we invite… Continue

Sordid Past

,..so my husband and I are dead to the world (asleep) a couple of nights ago when what we thought was the alarm started ringing. I'm thinking to myself, ' crap,...that didn't seem like 7 hours ', and Pen told me later that he too thought it was time to get up. Then I hear a voice on the answering machine say : " if this is Amy ---------, it sounds like you,...this is P------ Y-------, call me back ".

I looked at the clock and it was 1:49 am in the morning. I dated P.Y. for about three… Continue

When the student is ready, the master will appear

So I'm in the bar talking to some stuffed bra, puffed up hair, stiletto heeled, skin tight dress, black lipstick tramps called Katballou, and Xfashionfacist. That they have the names of some Ark people is completely coincidence. Some guy I don't know, in my proximity, starts acting like an asshole. Basically the drunk, loud kind of guy you find in bars. He is not directly interacting with us, but here is the catch, because I'm in the tramps disgust vector, I'm now considered an asshole. No… Continue

confusion as a pedestal for insight- seeing with a madman's clarity on the late night.

A poem I wrote ended with the line, "Surrender control and the universe will respond to the nature of your soul". I held onto this mantra, probably because I liked the way it sounded.

I've been doing a lot of reading lately, along with less drinking, more sleeping etc. And I think it's turning me into a hostile person. Isn't this the opposite of the desired effect? Anyways, an unfortunate side effect of aforementioned activities is thinking. And when thinking interferes with the… Continue

OCD and other adventures

So. I go to my secrete bathroom to take my before lunch poop. I first flush to toilet even if it's clean. I take some paper towel, and wet it. Give the whole toilet seat a wash. I follow with some more paper towel to dry it. I take a toilet cover, and pop out the middle. Make sure it's distributed evenly around. Then it pull down some tissue, and throw it out. I start the facet running, but not to much because dripping is louder. This will come in handy to drown out the farting sounds. I can… Continue

The love that never speaks it's name.

OK! I don't need to shop at Costco, but something about stalking middle aged, married women with kid's just feels so right. Yes I mean milf hunting. I was doing my fourth circuit of sample stands when I saw her. Forty, sweat pants, and a pony tale to round out the image. She was pushing a cart filled to the brim with a toddler on top. I could tell by the six pack of shaving cream their was a man involved. The gold band confirmed it. I veered off threw the power tool isle. Drills, power washer,… Continue

How On Earth,...

How on earth, and in heavens name, can anyone support an organization willing to hide such evil for

profit, much less give them tax exempt status ?

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2009/05/19/ap/world/main5024925.shtml

Park that in your browser and smoke it,....and be sure to read all the way through so you get to the part about the tax payers of Ireland footing the bill for compensation to the victims.

At some point, I hope to have the time and inclination… Continue

The Two-Minute Philosopher

The two "Two-Minute Philosopher" videos I put up a few weeks ago were well-received here and at a couple of other sites, so I'm planning on taping the rest of them this week and continuing with the series starting this coming Friday night.

I have some great questions on a list I've been generating, but if anyone has any suggestions, you can place them here so I get them before I finish up the first batch (I'll do about a dozen so we… Continue
