The slow death of art at the Ark

...has come to an end.

With sadness I have witnessed art and originality wither away as attention spans shortened to where a five year old would say "Dude! Focus, will ya?" Symptoms include the 2 Minute Philosopher, the 1 Minute challenge, the 30 in 30, the 5x5... notice a trend? Before long we're down to vids of 10 seconds. TLDW. I have been guilty of indulging the quick fix as well.

Well no more. I am happy and relieved to see a true artist do what he does best.…

Dog Sleds and Pay Backs

Pyper's Blog - 2012 Episode 2

It's January 31 and it was 64 degrees and sunny today. Proof that buying a bigger car circumvented a 5th straight year of crappy Kansas Winter. I know. Those of you who live to the North think I'm a whiner. But this Texas girl needs a sweater when it falls below 75 and the sun goes down. I am what I am.

Now the big…

Has anyone heard from Tree?

I was just wondering if Tree is still in India. Has anyone heard from her since she left?  I hope she returns with lots of cool footage. I think she is there learning a new quilting technique.  I can't wait to hear all about it.

Press Pause Play

Check this out!  It's a recently-produced documentary about how art (music, film, etc.) is much more accessible thanks to the DIY (do it yourself) movement of the last decade.  I see many of you as part of that revolution.

How to fix Vimeo Icons for your Embeds

Amy had asked, but it looked as if she figured it out, how do you get your video to show up.

Just in case others are not aware.  You must use the new embed code to get your video image to show up when embedding.

you will see the option up top when you click on the embed setting , it will give you the option to have ether old embed code or new, select new.

Giffords, Tucson mark 1 year since deadly rampage

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) – It's been a year since that bloody Tucson morning — a year of reflecting on lives shattered, of struggling with flashbacks and nightmares, of replaying the what-ifs before the deadly rampage that shocked a nation. And in the middle of it: one woman, …

The 5x5 Challenge

I'm stealing another challenge idea from Vimeo.  And I quote:

"A 5x5 is a classic Vimeo video project. It's a 25-second video composed of five 5-second clips, using only natural sound.

The challenge here is to find beauty in the mundane. Your day-to-day might seem boring to you, but I can assure you there is beauty in it — in your breakfast routine, commute to work, 8am biology class, lunch hour, trip to…

The World is Good Whether We See it or Not... (Pyper's Blog)

Precursor to the following blog: I was challenged by my friend Pyper to write a blog a week for 2012. I have accepted the challenge however; make no promises or guarantees that even a small percentage will be noteworthy.  For you Pyper my friend – I’ll do my best.

2012 episode 1 – The World is Good. The World is Very Good.

The New Year always makes me giddy. Maybe it’s the lingering buzz from the holiday season. Maybe it’s the symbolic nature of starting afresh. A wiping of the…

Sun Dried Tomato & Artichoke Tart

Well, actually its more like a vegan everything tart/pizza.

I had seen a recipe idea using pastry puffs and decided to experiment with it and see how it turned out. I was actually pleased with the final product, so I wanted to share.

Ingredients:

3/4 cup sliced…

All We Can Do Is Try

...to start THIS one off without some things

and take some "other" things into the Future with us.

Maybe this can serve as a tablet upon which we carve what we plan to leave behind and what we find worthy of taking into 2012. ( I'm not keeping score).

A daunting task; to compile such a list, but if…

CHIG !!!

...QUIT tryin' to make me pop staples. The docs don't want that to happen for at least another 2 weeks....so they told me to re-visit your comments at that time and not before....anything to make their jobs easier, eh?

Syd, I just knew a busload full of nuts was the perfect reminder of us and as a bonus, we thought the driver even looked a bit like you.

My first day home was wonderful. I slept a solid 4 hours the first night.

Unfortunately I hadn't read…

Geeze, I'm gone for a Week and I Don't Recognize the Place

Does Syd still live here ?

How much do I love you guys?

Way.

That's right, that much.

My teeth taste like shit in my mouth, 3/4 of my hair fell out (no lie) and I'm sporting a good 46 inches of staple tracks but somehow I feel better than I have in years. I have ankles!!! There's so much weird little shit that I had no idea was related to my Polycystic Liver that I'm noticing now.

They tell me I'm cured. How about that ?!

Okay, I'm over doing…

Final BlancheNoE update,... the next she can do herself

Howdy Folks

Greetings from Not Europe

    I am relieved.

BlancheNoE was prowling the halls today. Prevented from doing cartwheels simply because the drip could not keep up. She only has one tube left, going into her neck, which is also my personal favorite because it leaves your hands free and doesn’t get so tangled in the bed sheets and as an added bonus, doesn’t hurt, like the one on top of the…
