Whatever floats your boat...

I just updated my facebook status to "hates wshing he was somewhere else". The first response I got is from someone suggesting I settle where I am and think about moving later. Is that how this works?

See I keep meeting people who all had high hopes and dreams but the every day has weighed them down. Now all those dreams are just what they use to think about what-might-have-been. In fact the person telling me to settle down on facebook is a prime example of someone who is stuck in a rut.

Even the word "settle" freaks me out.

Is this normal?

@ Suze - that'#s what I think. Well said!

@ Syd - I realize your advancing years give you more wisdom but I'm trying to get on with myself. ; P

@ Dee - I'd never heard that song but it's brilliant and very appropriate. I used to think Where Is My Mind was my anthem but this one is up there now. Thanks!

@ Kat - your comments always make good sense to me and you have a brilliant gift for saying exactly what I needed to hear. Also your graffiti art is outstanding! : )

Dan,

it is from John Lennon's Album, Double Fantasy. I believe it was his first album after leaving the Beatles and half of the songs are his and half Yoko Ono's. He was pretty much a "stay at home father" after Sean was born and the song was about how everyone else was passing judgment on what he was doing with "HIS" life but that it was HIS life to decide what to do with.
It is your life Dan and as long as you are satisfied with how you are living it, then continue on with it. If you find there are things you are not happy with, then YOU should be the one to decide to change those things... you shouldn't let other people tell you how your life should be lived. Just my humble opinion.

I have this dilemma in my life often, whether to strive for something or enjoy what I have. When you reach 59, as I will in three days, the striving has less appeal.

It's true, Dee. I've always looked young for my age. My icon pic was taken a couple of years ago. I wish I were still in my 40's, but alas, my 60's are looming up ahead. (Actually, I'm fine with it, just grateful to be alive, kicking, and reasonably healthy.) =)
