Cool ! It's like Halloween and Christmas rolled into one ! A little creepy and confounding. I love it.
Sorta like " Have a Merry Christmas,...or ELSE !". Humans are so wacky. God love 'em,...'cause somebody has to.

@ BlancheNoE thank you, yes, it seems to be a strange custom to many people, but here its just as much a part of Christmas as carols or candy canes, i have even done the mummering before and have had mummers visit.it is alot of fun! and can go on the whole twelve days of Christmas

@ BlancheNoE yes i think the world should have more rituals like that, but i dont think many places would welcome a group of people knocking on their door wearing masks lol

@suzecue72 yes something like that, but its much more boisterous, the guessing game is alot of fun because you never know who it could be,every year different people do it, so the same person might only come mummering once every several years.
