The Ark

Whatever floats your boat...

is a rather melancholy collage with focus on the human condition as it relates to the ravages of war. the inspiration was the recollection of a a "dear john" letter sent to a Nam soldier that I knew as a child (ironically his nickname was "big john". he returned, broken.

this is my first contribution to The Ark. see you again soon.

@ Syd...let's see how the river bends. :)

@ Straw...thank you for commenting. I agree on society discarding the namvets. it's shameful. We have a new crop of exhausted and broken vets returning from the Middle East right now and more in the near future. their needs must be addressed and I'm hopeful the VA will be there for them.

This was indeed melancholy but very well put together. I recognize the man at 1:27 as Dieter Dengler, a Vietnam POW. I heard him speak years ago. He was a quirky, charming, inspirational guy.

It's really good to see you at the Ark, Victoria. I hope you keep coming back.

Sadly, we need to be reminded. Thanks for that, Victoria.I dream of a day when we'll no longer need to be reminded because the idea of it will seem simply absurd.

Greetings NatureJunkie .... good to see you! It took far too long to post a video here. I'll return to wherever The Ark docks.

Hi Blanche....you're welcome for the thanks. It's nice to meet you. We share that dream. Imagine that day (in our lifetime!) when we look back on the barbaric ideals of war the way we now view smoking and drinking while pregnant?
