Nice to see your lovely face again! The boys started high school which is just so huge...! I volunteered in the library yesterday and even the nonsensical-ness of what we were doing THERE boggled my mind--I can only begin to imagine what it's like for the teachers!

You're on the same internal clock as myself and Pen. I did a written blog about it at LV long ago.
I remember Sedonaleigh said we could thank the east India trading co. for unnatural time schedules, but I still think some monarchic king thousands of years ago watched an ant hill and decided it would be a more efficient way of getting his gold out of the mountain. If you get a chance next summer, put the movie "Powaqqatsi" on your must see list.
Just so you know, if I was your school superintendent I'd give you free reign.

Gee.. that sounded like a topical subject.. the expectations of the administration on a teacher and how it cuts into your ability to teach.
Hi Syd. It's good to see you again. Have you ever considered working at a college? If you did, you could teach afternoon classes, and stay up late. I am a night person and just started a job where I work 3:30 p.m. to midnight and it works great for me.

I was a night person since I was a kid. Mainly because my Dad went to work around midnight, so we were allowed to be up late and watch Steve Allen, Jack Paar, and Johnny Carson. The downside..waking up in time for school, and work, was hell. I'm writing this at 4;14am, and just took a pill to hopefully help me sleep. I hope something comes along to pick up your spirit soon.

I can relate. New testing this year that promises to be even more time consuming... Just what I need more data generation that takes even more time away from teaching. What am I supposed to do with all this flawed data??!! It has to be flawed or they wouldn't keep changing the tools for collecting it! if I have to do one more thing with "Fidelity" (current Buzz word) I'm going to F#$%ing Scream! My 20th year! Oh for the days of an administrator who could cut through the BS and watch your back for you. I think he left because he saw the writing on the wall 7 or eight years ago. I'm so glad you had this summer to just chill in NS. You deserved it! The only problem with that kind of R&R is that it makes you want more out of your life when you realize what you have been missing. I haven't been around much lately, but think of you folks often... you esp. Syd! Good to see ya!
Peace!
Willie

Christine- You always have such a great outlook on life. It's Saturday- noon, and I just woke up and am having my coffee. The sun's a-shinin' and I'll be out there very soon, on my way to see my grandma. Weekends ftw. :o)
Ruth- Omigod, those kids are in HIGH SCHOOL already????? holy cow. Seriously...holy cow. They are gonna be such cool young men.
Blanchie- Note to self: Order Powaqquatsi on Netflix. Also, put application in for Blanchie to be my principal.
Dee- definitely an idea...!
JoAnn- I haven't considered that, but I probably should. I love kids so much, though but I taught a college writing class two years ago to a cohort of new entrees into the teaching program at University of New Mexico and I liked it!! Note to self: Look into it! Thanks!
Kev- Oh, I'm in pretty good spirits- just the usual life stuff, no more than anyone else. Relatively speaking, my life is good. Thanks, you. :o)
Willie- can you believe how it just gets worse and worse...? Hopefully the pendulum will soon start falling back our way and we can actually have the time to teach what we've been held accountable to teach. Twenty years, DAYum. It's good to see ya, drop-in or not. :o)
