Whatever floats your boat...

"Teacher" a.k.a Kid-Indoctrinator for Socialism

So I'm a teacher in one of the largest school districts in the nation. Yesterday I get an e-mail from my principal addressed to the entire staff. It says:

There has been some controversy about whether students will be required to view President Obama’s September 8 address.

It goes on to state how principals throughout the district have been advised by the superintendent to abide by parents' wishes to have their children be released from any viewing of the address, which happens to be about the importance of education.

In case you didn't know, people who are firmly within the grasp of those who control the money and power in this country have mindlessly been duped into acting against their own interests (nothing new) through subtle fear tactics and the mobilization of their pundit-whores who have everything to gain from stirring the fringe element of their radical base. Big media's taken the bait and have disproportionately given these crack-pots a bigger voice, making it seem as though they're in the majority, as usual (see health insurance "debate").

Hence, the memo to the staff and a letter that went home with children, giving it even more fuel should there be any parents left who haven't seen or heard what began with a Fox News anti-Obama campaign. It summarized the controversy and ended with, "If you do not want your child to view this address, please email me and I will let your child’s 3rd period teacher know to excuse your child." (My principal needs an editor, I know)

Once again, ideologues try to get their tendrils into my classroom where the only agenda I have as a teacher is to teach my kids to use their noggin and think critically so they don't grow up to become sheep the way these idiot-parents have done (idiot-teachers, too, who believe the same).

So if anyone's reading this who happens to be one of those willingly-ignorant dunces calling their child's school to make sure their child won't see the address, just know that I hadn't planned on turning the TV on during 3rd period Tuesday

...until I saw that memo.

The lesson objectives will focus on listening skills and standards of public speaking- Obama sets the bar high on that one. Oh, and lets not forget the application of critical thinking skills through open discussion and written reflection. Those are all Language Arts standards and it is MY job to teach them all.

What a great teaching moment this will be. How could I have almost dismissed it and not seen the learning value there?

Maybe I'll even tape it so that ALL my students (all 130 of them) won't miss this opportunity. I mean, how often does the President of the United States address them directly? Oh wait...pretty much every four years. Nonetheless...

Thank you, idiots.

And thank you Fox News.

WHAT is WRONG with you ?!? Don't you know it's only okay if Reagan or Bush does it,...*spits*
Well,...the beast screams the loudest in it's death throes,...let's just hope we're there.
I can't imagine how frustrated and angry you are being that you're an educator. I keep thinking I must truly be in a fake matrix sort of world. This is all so absurd.

Good Grief. I think kids should listen and learn from ALL the crooks, both left and right.
This country was built on criminal intents from day one by people with a dream and self serving interests. :-P

Actually, I think you should use Obama as an example of a MASTERFUL SPEAKER.
I can always tell the propaganda from fact by these crazies when people try to tell me he says something inflammatory or one sided or stupid. I have never heard the man utter anything of the kind in a public speech. He is way too smart... although I think over time like with his recent questionable appointments for Ambassadorships his price tag will start to show that he is more of the same we always have had.

I am disappointed with most of our government's actions and inactions, but feel it's important to stay informed of all sides otherwise we are simply sheep. I am not surprised at a campaign, organized or not, to scare people away from watching the speech. Angered and saddened but not surprised.

I am a parent and I HOPE my son gets to see it. I think it was be a great opening address for the 1st day of school. But, knowing the conservative state that I live in I am sure I am going to see if I can tape it or get it from the internet somewhere.
My son happens to like Obama..(he thinks he is cool and NOPE..his dad dislikes Obama and I was a supporter) and if Obama can encourage my children to do well in school...then that is extra awesome. :)
Thanks Syd for being a woman of sense.

I don't know how it happened, but personally, my four daughters are more then capable of thinking for themselves. I think that the parents that are the most concerned about their kids hearing this speech are those parents who have not instilled a "sense of self" in their children. Why else would they be so worried about the kids being lead around like sheep? Maybe it is because they have taught them to be sheep.
I am proud to say that my girls can actually think for themselves and are able to listen to all sides of a debate before making a decision for themselves.

I think, Dee, that those people are motivated by fear. They fear what the implications are when our nation's children no longer see color as an obstacle to being whoever they want to be- even President of the U.S.

I'm sure they don't even realize it. That's my guess. They're freaked out by the sight of Obama in that position and they don't want kids to see it as normal.

I'm planning on watching it with my students! Never too early to start indoctr... er.. telling students that it is important to do their best, stay in school and never give up so that they have a better chance at succeeding in life. When they learn how to think critically, listen to both sides of an argument, then slant points to their own "Right" way of thinking... even they could grow up to be a fair and balanced (gags) Fox News Anchor!!
Thanks Syd!

I heard the President plans to indoctrinate the kids by way of special socialism rays that can only be projected/activated with his face or voice.
I think there’s something to it because when syd and I went to Obama campaign rally, syds eyes got glazed over and she insisted that after we grab a Cuban sandwich, shot of Smirnoff, and find some Chinese women to hit on. Also, and I have trepidation in telling this because it makes syd look super bad but, well, um, syd kept trying to run over cute little wild foxes. Glazed and enraged she was yelling "DIE FOX DIE"

Luckily I put my tin foil gear on in time to only want a shot of Smirnoff.
