Whatever floats your boat...

As a meditation from this "so-called Life", I enjoyed clipping together a 2nd set of "pole diary" clips to a song by a band I've been following for a while now.

If the body and ever-changing commitments cooperate, I can keep fitting in this hobby which brings me joy for SO many reasons.

P.S. I agree, I'd hate to see this activity become an Olympic sport. What we would see are the same ten maneuvers worked into a two-minute routine, and every competitor would differ from the others only in the order she chose for her set of maneuvers. I have come to find Olympic gymnastics and ice skating dull for that reason.

@NJ - I knew Arkies would be able to see what I mean about the "artistry" of this sport.  I used to be a gymnast and altho we were told to get excited about selecting our music, we still had to plan a specific series of tricks for that apparatus so, yea, BORING. I used to love watching olympic skating too, but got bored.

THank you SO much for your encouragement and appreciation of the work I'm doing just to get "here". and to me, 'here' is not that FAR. @142, thats a plank, with only the elbow as ur point of contact. I LOVE that one too. got it even BETTER now. next video will have much more power lifting and one-handed grips! Working with this sprained right hand and the back muscle tears still healing made me unable to get that LAST bit of lift on a bunch of moves but i am already conquering those slowly....If only i wasn't SO old, broken and busy, I'd be moving ALOT faster.

@NJ- funny I stumbled upon the blog of a Gymnastics Judge while searching for some innovative stretches and she wrote about training judges to SEE creativity in the sport.

From the judge's blog:

"The new Code of Points describe artistry of presentation as showing three qualities; [1] projection of
personal style, focus, and expression; [2]femininity, beauty, and elegance; [3] entertainment value."

If only "personal style" really meant individuality. The first and last time I saw any individuality in women's gymnastics was when Olga Korbut did a back flip on the uneven parallel bars. I literally caught my breath when I saw that, as I imagine many people did. According to Wikipedia, "The Korbut Flip on uneven bars is no longer allowed in gymnastics competition because it involves standing on the high bar, a maneuver which is now illegal in the Code of Points, because it interrupts the rhythm created by swinging movements."

So much for individuality and creativity in that sport.

@NJ - SO true but I supposed that's what defines it as "sport" and not art. In my family when someone flubs up badly trying to do a serious trick or has a very interestingly ballet-like fall we all give it a 10 and then say...'and from the Russian Judge 2.5"!. *any low score will do

@NJ - Ack! b4 I forget. One pole athlete/dancer I follow and whose path I understand and admire is Yvonne Haug. She is a former gymnast who is enjoying her creative experience after competitive sports, owning a studio, teaching and being free to be creative in her dance when she chooses.
