The Ark

Whatever floats your boat...

I go in tomorrow for some surgery so I can start eating again and maybe even sleep comfortably for a while. The doctors aren't sure yet whether it will be in-patient or out-patient due to the scale of the operation but we *do* know that I will have tubes hanging out of me for at least a week. They are going to try to drain and seal the 3 most offending groupings of cysts. Consider that I have literally thousands of cysts inside and out of a liver that fills my entire body cavity. The surgeon performing the procedure *has* done this before on someone like me,....once,...and he's the expert in this field.

I'm so special.

At worst, I'll get a temporary reprieve from this hell for a couple of months and at best, maybe for 6 months until the liver spurts again and fills the room made by the absence of fluid filled cysts.

I'll try to do a video update soon and I'm hoping to maybe do a bit of editing if I get to come home while I'm draining.

Getting old 'aint for pussies.

Wish me luck.

Much love and gratitude,

Amy

Glad that part is done. Hope you start getting some relief soon. Just wondering if there's any reason they won't give you some demerol now?

@ Chig- I know, right ? I think I could beat AskTheTyrant just by threatening to squirt my bags at him.

@ Omega- Man, it is always so good to see your mug. I'm glad you you don't have any happy uplifting shite. I would highly suspicious of your identity  if you did.

@ Space- Thanks, Man.

@ Kevin- I didn't ask for any to take home, I was joking before when I said they wouldn't give it to me. It's what they used for the operation. I'm on so many drugs now that I'd like to avoid them where I can. I'm used to feeling pain so I can take it,..and to be honest, I think Demerol is the one drug I could actually become addicted to. I'm not addictive by nature but that that stuff is rockin',...so yeah, I should only have it when I REALLY need it. Thanks though, for you worry friend. Fret not.

Great news that you are home and all went well!   How long til you can stomach foods?
Comment by BlancheNoE on January 20, 2011 at 1:06pm

Thanks, Lima. I ate about 2 hours after I got home. I had a small piece of bread and about 10 crackers. I was sore but it was a good kind of sore, almost like a work-out sorta' sore. It all stayed in fine and then I had a big bowl (about 1 1/2 cups) of organic split pea soup a couple of hours later and that stayed down too.

Last night I was able to get air all the way to the bottom of my right lung for the first time in a year. I can not tell you how pleasurable that is,....better than good sex (sorry Honey) and even though everything is really sore in that area it is just SOOOOOOO good to feel the air all the way down there. The left one is still inhibited. The liver *and* stomach are pushing against my diagphragm on that side.   Maybe after the swelling at the tube site goes down on that side,....we'll see. Thanks again.

Amy, demerol got me through three surgeries for dental impactions. I HEAR you on it's addiction potential. When it kicked in, I would have laughed if the ceiling fell on me.

I've been out of touch for quite a bit and the last couple of weeks I've been on briefly and catching bits of what has been going on with you Amy. I haven't had time to fill in all the gaps but it sounds like you guys have not had an easy go of things lately! That bums me out cause people as cool you and Pen should be smooth sailors! Glad you are getting some relief. I hope to check in more often and keep up with the ARK.
Peace!

YAY!  I am so happy for you A!  It's amazing how much we take for granted and never give any thought to what if I just could not do this anymore.   I am not going to say the split pea soup would have been one of my first choices, but it does sound quite smooth on the going down part, so more power to ya,  may I suggest some dumplings to go in it next time.    (that is how my mom got me to eat peas)

Amy, you are like the little engine that could.  Pen is the like the sexy carrot that is enticing you to wellness.  Those metephores don't necessarily match  - but I know what I meant....lol
