The Ark

Whatever floats your boat...

I go in tomorrow for some surgery so I can start eating again and maybe even sleep comfortably for a while. The doctors aren't sure yet whether it will be in-patient or out-patient due to the scale of the operation but we *do* know that I will have tubes hanging out of me for at least a week. They are going to try to drain and seal the 3 most offending groupings of cysts. Consider that I have literally thousands of cysts inside and out of a liver that fills my entire body cavity. The surgeon performing the procedure *has* done this before on someone like me,....once,...and he's the expert in this field.

I'm so special.

At worst, I'll get a temporary reprieve from this hell for a couple of months and at best, maybe for 6 months until the liver spurts again and fills the room made by the absence of fluid filled cysts.

I'll try to do a video update soon and I'm hoping to maybe do a bit of editing if I get to come home while I'm draining.

Getting old 'aint for pussies.

Wish me luck.

Much love and gratitude,

Amy

You're in my thoughts every single day, Amy, but especially so today. I hope this procedure brings you a respite from pain and discomfort. If so, then it's a very good thing. And regarding your doctor's limited experience in this procedure, you're giving a gift to other PLD patients who will undergo this in the future.

@ Kevin- Much of the same to you, friend

@ TG- I told them to go for 3 tubes but they stopped at 2. I wanted one hanging in the middle between my legs for a nutsack video. Oh well, maybe next time. The tube sites hurt like hell now because I can't do pill form narcotics without throwing up or getting a rash and they didn't offer me liquid Demerol,...day-um. I'm wearing them on the outside for effect.

@ Lima- Thank you Lima. All went well and they let me go home.

@ NJ- It was like a mini convention. They were showing my scans to an audience of about 15 medical residents. I was very surprised by their reactions/facial expressions. You'd think they were watching babies being tortured or something. I don't think they realized that the door to my room was open and I could see and hear them. Yes. I am sorta' proud to be able to be a pioneer. There aren't too many opportunities to do that in this day and age. I gotta' say I got a kick out of getting some payback. I was visualizing the puncturing as it was happening,....take THAT bitches.

Thank you for everything. I'm hoping to edit the out-takes of our visit by this weekend.

Best news I've had in ages! ~Psst~ There are many types and strengths of pain medications available as suppositories. *snort* Don't ask...! Have a chat with your doctor.

Ack.. Where is my brain? There are also different pain meds in patch form too.

I love you guys for thinking of me,...unfortunately, they tried the suppositories on me when I had a tonsillectomy @ 30 and again last year when I had my hysterectomy. It just didn't work. In fact Octreotide, which I'm on 3 times a day now is indicated for nausea and it does the opposite in me. Demerol intravenously or liquid is the only one that doesn't make me nauseous. ,..and I can only tolerate 50 mg 10 hours apart of Tramodol or it makes me throw up. I personally think all my "sensitivities" (which I once thought were allergies) are ALL due to the way my effed up liver processes everything. If it gets passed the point of tolerable for me, I'll cry for the Demerol and they'd probably give it to me.

@ Marie and TG- mmmmWAH !

Ah, you are well on the way to playing the hot Borg chick part in Adams Trek 6.

Hope this brings you much needed relief however brief.

No infections please.   That means the mud wrestling matches with Pen every Sunday afternoon have to stop for a while.

Glad you checked in. Good to hear everything went o.k.

I'd offer more happy and uplifting thoughts but...well, I'm not exactly sure what those are.
