D'oh! Ark Time is Up? (Maybe Not!)

Hey all.  I just got word that Ning is upping their fee once again.  I'm so grateful to all of you who've helped to keep this boat afloat all these years, but there's no way I can continue considering they're doubling the monthly fee beginning October 1st.

So unless anyone else wants to take the wheel, I'm gonna have to call this place quits the very last week of September. I'm so sorry. I dreaded this moment.  I want to send out an email to all members, but I figured I'd wait a couple of weeks so that those who visit more regularly will have a heads up and happen upon this on their own rather than get an impersonal all-call.

Are you guys on Facebook?  I'm not a big fan of it (only use it for immediate family members) but I'd be willing to get on there and look for you if it means we could stay connected.  

If you have any better ideas, drop 'em here. 

Gonna go mope around now.

I knew this couldn't continue forever, in the same way that I know I'm going to die someday. It makes me feel indescribably sad to see this place go and strangely lonely. Like Amy, I have met some of my very favorite people here. And even though it's been months since I've posted a video, I actually do check in here about every other day, usually every day, just so that I'm in touch and don't miss anything. It's not that I need the Ark to stay close to the people I've become close with, but I do need it to stay in touch with the people I've grown to care about that I've never met IRL. Without the Ark, the years will go by and I'll be wondering, How're Chig, Ruth, Peter, Sara, Doug & Mel, Lima, and the occasional pop-ins like Annelida Films, JD, and DOK? And you, Syd.

I had so many ideas for videos that I never got around to making. So many videos I shot that I never got around to editing. This site brought me so much joy. Now I fear it's going to bring me a lot of sad regret.

...and of COURSE I too will contribute to funding and I'm happy to share administrator status if some (cough-Chig)

takes the helm, OR we can all squat in Chig's garage and watch ALL our videos 'cause that's where the vault is. In my will I have a map for the alien archaeologists to Chig's garage. If they show up early, well, sorry Chig. It had to be done.

Oh, man, now I'll have to change the title of this blog.

And we'll have to have some kind of formal ceremony whereby Chig is deemed the official captain of the ship.  LtAdams, we'll need some maps for the occasion.

If Ning continues to provide this service...... The Ark will stay afloat.  Thanks Syd, Lima NJ and Blanch. Good things should continue for good people (and Doug)....     If it ever comes to a point I need some help, I will remember your generous offers.   Maybe this will be a kick in the pants for me/us to participate contribute videos more.

Thats a very kind offer.  I will remember it should I need help one day.  We have a good and generous crew!  For right now, I am good.  Let's just keep our fingers crossed that Ning plans to be around a while.
