The Ark

Whatever floats your boat...

I was experimenting with some effects and decided to pad the thing out and throw on a soundtrack.

The music is "Arabian Nights" by Siouxsie and the Banshees.

Oh that's just way cool. I thought the music worked REALly well. Fantastic editing,..all around
WAY COOL ! The word "fearless" comes to mind. I get the impression that you're not afraid of much. It's as if you'd jump right into that lava if you believed something useful could be derived from it.

Beautiful. I never realized how much clouds and fire had in common.

Exciting.
That spinning lava is awesome too.

Thank you, Amy. I don't have much trouble with pieces like this where I am just exploring something for another video. But I am very reluctant to finish and post videos that mean something more to me. I bought my camera in late February, 2008. I spent about five days on footage and I still haven't put that first video together. Not fearless.

Jim, a lot of the visuals surprised me as I was trying stuff out. Several happy accidents. The flames I was using come from the end of a Japanese film from the mid-1990s. Very computerish looking in some ways. I was just trying to find a way to cover up the CGI stink when I saw the similarity between the rolling and billowing of clouds and the fire.

I like the lava, flop, and I've got some more. Unfortunately, the best shots are from the National Geographic and they put a little logo bug in the corner.

Siouxsie.... been a long time... Great Editing!

I have always been a sucker for sky clouds time-lapse ext.. I can still spend hours just staring at the sky... lava fire is another fav, but not as much as the clouds... especially in an Oklahoma sunset.

"...decided to pad the thing out and throw on a soundtrack." That's what you call your fine editing, eh?

Gosh, I haven't heard this song for probably 15 years, and I own every Siouxsie CD. It seems like such a piece of its time now, and it feels like a very long time ago. Anyway, very nice padding and throwing, Geoff.

Siouxsie is very much of its time. I wouldn't be surprised if she appears on B-level reality tv shows in Britain now (but don't tell me, I don't really want to know).

Lima, there are lots of great time-lapse cloud studies online. Always fascinating.

Thanks everybody for your comments.
