I can't even begin to imagine making something this complex, Amy. the work and the journey of quilting though, is a life experience for you now, which has gained more meaning than I would guess you had been banking on. I think Margaret will be very impressed and happy for you. Cheers to putting this on your "done" list. Say hi to Mike 4me
*picks jaw off floor* Amy ... it's so... stunning... special/unique... interesting... magical... beautiful... creative... YOU!
Oh Amy!! What an accomplishment! You continue to amaze in so many ways! xoxo
This is AWESOME. Simply stunning, Amy. I love the Great Mother Spider poem and the camera shakes that simulate the trembling of a web when something gets caught in it. The web itself on the back is a very innovative design for the quilting.
I think this was a great use of a thousand hours!
@ TG- THANK you and yeah, there's a WHOLE lotta' meaning in there for me. Mike says "hi" and I now have a model of Crappy (my old liver) designed from the dimensions in the pathology report that I will show soon. You will not believe this thing could have fit inside me.
@ Marie- Thank you sweet Marie. It was truly inspired.
@ JUAN- Thank you Ruth. So much love back at you and just so you know, it's big enough for 3.
@ NJ- Thank you dear NJ and thanks for your gentle nudges to keep going on it. I won't be starting a new one any time soon but I regret nothing !!! If I'd tried to rush it, it would not be what it is.
WOW WOW WOW! That is so cool! I love the front and the back blew me away. I love your video so poetic and then BAM you crack me up at the end.
Blanche, the path of the web's stitch reminds me of those labyrinths people walk slowly on to reach a higher state of being, taking hours to reach the center.
It looks as though you worked from the center outward, which reminds me of the universe, ever-expanding. And of you (your spirit).
Oh, the thoughts woven into that fabric over the course of a year or so...tis a wonder it ain't glowin'. ;o)
I sure like the thought of you as Spider Woman..
1050 hours? so this thing cost what. 40 grand?
@ JoAnn- Thank you so much, JoAnn. The story is a Native American folk tale told to me by my second grade teacher. I can't remember which tribe it was attributed to and I haven't been able to find it again. Like the teacher (Miss Kirk), the story always stuck with me.
@ Kumori- DOH *blushes*, thank you by I think persistence played a larger role that talent in this case.
@ LtAdams- FUCK you !,..........it would only cost 30,000.00 if I charged minimum wage for my labor,....so THERE!
( I was smiling when I said "fuck you" 'cause I know you like it like that.)
@ Jim- VERY cool observation !!! Thank you, and there is in fact a bit of "the web" in there. My old green screen is the green and it's filled with stories of the great friends I've found on the web.
@ Syd- YOU are the Ark's Great Mother Spider. I love you.
