The Ark

Whatever floats your boat...

I'm not a planner. Summer arrives and I find myself filling the time off from school with professional development opportunities. Last summer, for the first time, I planned nothing and decided to have the summer to myself but that just went nowhere because I wound up with a lot of unstructured time and that meant very little focus on anything productive or even FUN!

So this time, I'm not only taking those summer months to focus on the writing, but I'm planning a trip well in advance to a cool summer getaway. This is very unlike me but I just happened to have a tiny bit of money saved so the opportunity to travel is a novel thing in my life- gonna take advantage of it.

I'm doing the research right now and I figured I'd ask you guys- Has anyone ever been to Nova Scotia and if so, where'd you go? Any tips that might help me with my plans?

I'll be all over the province for two weeks and then I'll be settling in Cape Breton for a month and half to try and focus on writing.

No, I wish I could but she'll be with good friends Chaucie and Powder.

I hope I come back having done some writing, too. That's the goal. Maybe you CAN come for a little while...?

Outstanding! I am so happy for you. You will have a great time. Explore the whole place. I have never been to Nova Scotia, but I bet it is incredible. Can't give you any travel advice on the area, but I can tell you from experience, walk into some small town pub and I bet you willl make some interesting friends and they will give you the scoop on what the great spots are.
I did that in Scotland and was able to learn about the areas the tourist dont know about. The best areas.
Good on ya Syd. Go live, eat, drink, write, read, and rest. I'm so jealous.

@Pyper- that's a great idea! There are plenty of quaint little fishing towns - that's what I most look forward to. They definitely will have pubs. ;o)

@Sue- thanks, will go look him up!

@Chig- treasures- lol

Can't give you any advice about Nova Scotia, Syd, but I do advise you to keep in touch with folks by phone and leave your ethernet card at home. Think of the time as what Charlie Parker called "woodshedding." I would SO like to be standing in line at your first book signing!

lol angryislander56 is Laura, and she runs this inn on New Brunswick, but I bet she'd know a thing or two about Nova Scotia!

Syd, I had some good friends who relocated to Nova Scotia and loved it. Unfortunately I've lost touch with them. Your summer plans sound amazing! I wish you safe travels. :)

Does that mean you'll be off-line this summer? :(
