Thanks for the updates, John. I'm going to be without Internet for a couple of days, but my thoughts will still be reaching out to you both.

don't be afraid to be politely assertive at the hospital.  if Blanche needs something and they are slow to arrive when pressing the button, walk on down to the nurse's station and politely be a pain in the ass.  :)

great news on being OUT of ICU (as scarey as that seems, it's a good thing :)

Hospitals are not good places to get well :-)  To get any rest, anyway.  Lots of positive energy heading your way  xo

Like Victoria said, don't be afraid to ask for anything. Especially pain killers. They've already allotted them, all Blanche needs to do is ask for them..... my wife's an RN, she knows ;) .. Great News!!! Hoping for a better days rest.

I appreciate your posting these with so much going on. Strength (and rest) to you both.

I 3rd that sentiment- about being your own Patient advocate. Pain management is practiced now in a way that expects a lucid patient to make requests for pain relief ..for many reasons, but simply never hesitate, and also don't practice the warrior "wait and see" protocol. SO thrilled for Amy, I cant stop bubbling over, telling every professor and every student i know how sometimes the right things come together at the right time. Love you guys.

I also think being out of icu is positive. You and Amy are in my thoughts and prayers.

Chin up John, get some rest.   They have wonderful meds that not only sedate, but mercifully wipe memories of the discomfort.   Amy should have some as well. ;-)
