More Qualified to be British than the British!

My husband flunked it, my inlaws flunked it, my step-kids flunked it...I, however, passed it :-)

*big smile* Ruth, that is so cool,...and the car?,..your the picture of courage. I'd not only be giving accidental lawn-jobs, I'd be dumping the tranny on that manual ( never quite got the hang of the clutch ),..and they allow muddy boots ?!? My kinda' place. I hope we're able to visit you some day. Congrats on your test !

Greetings from Not Europe
Yes indeed, driving in England is quite the adventure,... but I found that if you stick to your guns they’ll flash their lights and honk but invariably will swerve aside at the last moment. We’re looking forward to seeing you over there, maybe do a day trip to Tintagel.

Hi guys...! Tintagel was on my list...I just ran out of time. They do like to honk, those English!! You two could always come to LA...we're not leaving for a few years yet :-)

WOW! That's a big goal, that five-year plan! My congratulations to you on passing that test, but don't be too hard on your British family for not being able to do it. I doubt that many Americans could pass the counterpart exam required of our naturalized citizens. (I'm lucky my national membership came free with my birth.)

I never thought the opposite-driver's-side thing would bother me that much, but I never thought about the position of the stickshift before. I've always driven manual transmissions and using my left hand would require a whole new regimen of eye/hand coordination, for sure.

Aw man, RUTH!!! That is awesome! I know you get a great amount of satisfaction from traveling on your own. What a great trip, and congrats on passing the test.

What's the next step? Are you guys moving soon...?

It is a 5-year plan, Syd, but David just informed me yesterday that he might be ready to go in 3. In any event, we won't go before the boys are out of high school. Then I'm hoping they'll come with us, help us get set up, bum around Europe, then start college! We'll see...after all this, we'll probably grow old and moldy right here in Topanga.

So cool. The area you stayed looks incredible. Just beautiful.

I had a co-worker that was taking the citizen test to become American, she's from Mexico. She was asking us some of the questions. Holy Shit Man, most everyone had trouble with the basic ones. She is more American than most Americans...ha.....cept me - I nailed the answers BABY! I helped her study.

Hey - you sure you want citizenship of a counrty that drives all funky? I couldn't drive a stick wtih my left hand - the thought of that makes me loopy...ha.
