Too slow is right, Sue. I have a 13 year old Honda Accord that just hit 80,000 miles. I get regular tune-ups and check the tire pressure obsessively. People don't seem to understand that every little bit really does help. The damage from the spill will kill millions of animals (including human animals) in the next 20 years.

Maybe FDR had it easier because in 1930 there were only 123 million people in America. Today there are 310 million – half of whom are lawyers for Big Oil companies. And now BP is making the coal industry look clean. I’m afraid the conversion to solar, wind, and tidal energy will be very slow because people hate change.
