Beautiful.  Thanks for sharing.   Chin up.  Astronomers have long taken to listening to stars as opposed to optically viewing specks of light when "seeing what the stars are really like".   Still light pollution is kills the romantic notion of viewing the heavens, and I know that Tucson and Kitt Peak have long tried to work together on this.   It has once again become an issue as they switch to LED street lighting in town here.

there was a stargazing program on in uk and they were able to switch off the lights in a town just so they could see the stars............unfortunately it being the UK it started raining lol

yep alternative light sources are on their way, but its all about the economics nowadays if it does not make sense financially it may well get scrapped

way cool. I love that we get to view high def images of all this everyday on our desktops.

DID You HEAR about last night?  the launch was postponed but they'll try again tonight... 5 rockets will be launched from Virginia (Wallops) with chem trails to track the Jet Stream.. ATREX.

my youngest is a science and tech nutcase ..it was tough to pull his chin up last night after it was cancelled. This kid was bouncing off walls, talking a blue streak with excitement because we're so close we dont even need the telescope to see it, but using it would have made it superb. we'll try again

view launch here when it happens: (link in box at top right corner)
