The Ark

Whatever floats your boat...

As you might have heard, Leonard Nimoy shot out of earth's orbit today leaving our little rock less fascinating.

I'm grateful to have been alive while he was spreading his particular brand of intellectual acting-genius.

I marveled at the characters that seemed to be written just for him when in actuality it was he himself who made those characters his own. He inspired me to learn balance between my emotions and logic and he was a total fox right up until the day he stepped off the crazy-train.

I love you Mr. Nimoy and I'm blowing you big kisses to join the wind  that sails you out into the great unknown where many men have gone before but few who've left such a grand legacy behind.

mmmmmmmmmmmMMWAH !

.....I just got home and read a sinking feeling unlike what usually happens when we understand people are aging and biology is what it is...I just feel sad...he and his character represent something we will never have enough of and he may just have been a pioneer at bringing forth.  peaceful journey.....

In the Whitewater investigation in 1996, one of the grand jury members was a Trekkie who wore her Star Trek uniform to court. The Trek universe was that real to her. I have a co-worker like that. In his office, Mark has two framed photos of Captains Kirk and Picard, the way public employees used to have a photo of the president in their workplace. Sometimes Mark wears his "uniform" to work, too. That's how powerful that show was to at least two generations of people. How can you underestimate the influence of its most popular character or the man who played it?

I expressed my condolences to Mark because I knew that for him Nimoy's passing was like that of a personal friend. But I had a lump in my throat when I did it, because if you take six degrees of separation into it, Spock was my friend, too.
