I made the video Orange Sky last year in honor of my orange dog, Kirb last year.   He just turned 10 years.    Every morning I greet him with the phrase "Every day is a beautiful, wonderful, glorius  gift."  This became ritual with us following the death of his older brother who passed back in 2004 and Kirb idolized.   His brother died of a secondary lymphoma which started with a cancer of the spleen,

 

Kirb  was diagnosed with lymphoma today.   That usually carries a prognosis of weeks to live.   They say Chemo has a good chance to put the disease process into remission.   From what I read the remissions are short followed by rapid decline and death.   I may try prednisone to handle inflammation with some antioxidant therapy such as maritime pine bark / dietary changes to help boost the immune system. I hear that can also lead to remission and rapid decline.

Anyhow, in honor of possibly the most unique, smart, compassionate dogs I have had the honor of knowing ... I present Orange Sky again.

Chig, it breaks my heart to hear this about Kirby. He is one of the most beautiful dogs I've ever seen. Sometimes when I need a lift, I visit your photos page because seeing your dogs always makes me feel better, especially Kirby. And while I have several favorites, my most favorite is "The Boys."

Whatever choices you make about his treatment, I know Kirby could not have any better advocate than you. I hope the rest of his days are filled with love for both of you.

Aw, Bruce. I'm so sorry. I do have to say that 10 years or even a year with you as dog-daddy is worth a human lifetime (or two)of love and joy. I'm sure you feel the same about his company.

You give your all to these creatures, each time risking your heart. You're among the most courageous humans I know.

Your vid is so peaceful...What a handsome, happy boy that Kirby is...so lovely.  The circles are never easy....I'm sorry Chig, this hasn't been an easy year for you.
