I wish I had been a little more awake when you came to say goodbye shortly after midnight, and turned around to go outside for the last time. I felt you had left us when we found you at 02:20.
I will feel it even more when I wake up. You were a blessing.

The hardest part of love is letting go. So brave are those who venture to love in spite of what they know is coming. You were a huge blessing to Ruby. I don't think the universe forgets stuff like that. Here's to you Ruby,...you sure picked a cool set of humans to spend your last days here with.

I'm very sorry you have to bear the brunt of Ruby's absence now...but it's SO true how fortunate she was to have you guys...and vice versa.
I'm going off to work with you heavy in my thoughts and my heart for your loss, though.

I'm so happy Ruby had you. The idea of an animal having a loving caring environment in which to live and die makes me very happy.
We need more Chigs and Mrs Chigs.

This is after seeing the Vet and 12 hours before she passed. She hardly ever heard the other dogs. Not sure why this time was so special. I guess she was hoping Dogmom was coming home.

I remember reading about Ruby when you first adopted her. I didn't know terribly much about you back then (and still don't), but when I saw mention of her age, and how much you cared for her even then, I knew for sure that you're a remarkable man.

I think our beloved pets are embodiments of spirits on Earth. I still mourn all the pets that I've had and lost. Blackie was my last furry companion. I lost him 5 years ago this month. http://lovevideoplayhouse.ning.com/photo/blackie-1?context=user

I believe in the Rainbow Bridge, where all the pets we ever had will greet us again after we pass. Fantasy? If it is, it's a sweet and harmless one.

Thank you all. I will answer you each in kind, when I feel up to it. I appreciate the words and your kind thoughts. I can tell you that there is a huge whole here today. For seven months we have watched closely our every step because this adorable little deaf dog made no sound other than a cough, and never heard any thing coming in her direction. So every step today is a reminder that the sweetest and most gentle member of our family is not here with us. I have so many thoughts on Ruby, but no heart to say them at the moment.
