The Heart of Tucson
This is mostly raw footage of one of three memorials following the Jan. 8th shootings which made the news.
This memorial will soon be taken down, and perhaps something a little more permanent will be in its place in the future. I would have to say it was as much a place of healing as the buildings which stand near by.
Folks don't need to agree with each other, or even work together. That is the nature of being human. If only the blaming, and the diatribes would give way to discussion and civility then perhaps we will never need another memorial like this again. To say the other side is crazy, dangerous, ignorant, or evil is not discussion no matter where you are coming from. It is fuel for more prejudice and hate sometimes with unexpected consequence.

Okay, well, at least I was crying this morning from something other than physical pain.
As always you've done a beautiful job of poignantly sending a message. Who was performing " While my Guitar gently Weeps " ? It sounded like George but I've never heard that recording. Perfect.

This is very moving, Chig. I know what it feels like when violence rips a hole out of a community, and I know how it feels when a whole community responds to violence with this kind of tribute. In the whole of my life, I will never forget what Market Street in San Francisco looked like in 1978, glowing with candles as far as the eye could see. Such memorials don't undo the damage, but I find it reassuring that human beings are collectively capable of such compassion and a willingness to heal through forgiveness.
