Beautiful NJ and thanks for the reminder.

...so have you asked him to "marry" you yet ? *smile*

Have you set a any kind of time frame as to when the foster stage has passed ?

He looks so good with you.

*sigh* Really enjoyed this and the way Hardy looks up to you.

My dog, Steve, has issues and has been in therapy/training.  My trainer is part actual trainer, part dog whisperer, dog/people psychiatrist, is tall, gorgeous and French....but I digress.  My point is that the way Hardy looks at you means he's "with you" as Christophe says, which is more than 1/2 the battle.

I hope you keep him.

Hardy looks damn happy here. I am glad there are dog fosterparents like you out there. MAN! The song struck me like a blast from the past and you are SO right about October. It is a wonderful month to get outside, the sun is just warm enough to break through the chill thats started burning thru and that moon is magnificent...the colors, the scents, I adore fall.

I agree with everyone else NJ, I think Hardy looks happy and interested here which can only mean one thing...PROGRESS! Slow but sure!

@ Blanche: I'm not sure if the "foster" stage will ever be over, because I think Hardy is going to need someone to foster him through a lot of changes that will be necessary in making his life more pleasant. But to answer your question, I'm pretty damn sure that I'm going to be his dog mom from here on out.

@ Marie: Thank you. It always makes me happy when you stop by.

@ Ruth: I'm SO glad to hear that Steve is still with you. Since you haven't mentioned him in a long time, I was afraid that you'd had to give him up for some reason and didn't want to talk about it. What your gorgeous trainer says is the same thing that my trainer/friend says, that Hardy looks to me and finds reassurance when he does, and that's a great sign that things will get better.

@ ThatGirl: Glad you enjoyed. I love this song. It might seem like an odd choice for a video about autumn, but every fall I get something that feels like spring fever (which Mark Twain defined as an urge for going), only in the time zone of a different equinox. Let the River Run feels like an anthem to forward movement, so it feels right to me at this time of year.

@ Peacenik: Thank you, my sistah! Hardy's face often has the "soft eyes" now, a sure sign that he's making progress. (I have to remind myself of that every evening when I open the front door and he runs away from me.)

Steve has the best life ever...he just doesn't realize it yet!  He's got me, my co-dog-owner, English Rik, and my boyfriend (also Steve...go figure)!  His issue is with other dogs, all of whom he tries to bite.  Oh, and he bit the first trainer too.  He's getting better thanks to the French version of the dog whisperer.

Hey Ruth! I was going to ask what Steve's issues are. I had Wheaties, my foster dog of last year, for ten months (a LONG time for a foster) because he had food jealousy and leash aggression issues that he needed to overcome before going to his forever home. We had a great trainer working with us, teaching me how to counter-condition Wheaties' aggression to other dogs when he was on leash. It can take a long time, but patience WILL pay off if you practice daily. I'm glad Steve has you and Mr. French.
