Whatever floats your boat...
This is a 190? Banjo that I recently purchased and refurbished. Posting just to see if anyone still comes here and watches these.

That's some beautiful motif on the back of the neck. What was the original face made of?
See if anyone still comes here and watches these? Sigh.... Well I am keeping it up for the moment so people can reach out to one another at any rate.
Oh, also looking good Willie. I so wish I was retired now. The job is not nurturing my creative side. Science field is like that for the most part.
Originally it was probably some type of hide but being vegan, ahem, I went with a synthetic renaissance head to replace the old one. Glad there are still some who come here. I know I don’t visit often enough. Have you a plan for retirement?? That usually helps! Ha!
When you first unwrapped that thing, oh my god, I was amazed that it hadn't been long buried in a landfill. I would never have guessed that an instrument in that condition could even be restored. What you did with it is astounding, Willie. You brought it back to life and gave it beauty again. I noticed that the original price tag on it was $50. In 1901, that was about 10% of what the average person made in a year, so it must have been somebody's precious baby a hundred years ago. I'm glad someone will be cradling it again.
Nature Junkie, yes 50 dollars was a lot of money back then! I just found the original Elite tailpiece used on this banjo and won it in an eBay auction! So it will soon be complete as originally made! It is a beautiful little banjo with an amazing tone. Thanks for watching!
