Whatever floats your boat...

The level that some people operate at never ceases to amaze me. My Mom and I have a couple
we pay to help us..light cooking, cleaning, etc. They also have full use of my Mother's car, and we pay their car insurance..they don't own their own car and the woman, (not wife, they aren't married, just living together), is on state assistance, which is paying for their rental house. When we started using them, things were fine..they were more than helpful. Then some weird stuff started happening. I found out that the woman took my Mother out of our condo without telling me, to buy some jewelry that her friend was selling??!! I put a quick stop to that! They show up to do as little as possible right now. Wednesday the woman came over with the flu to collect her pay. We paid her and made her go home. My Mom is 85. If she got the flu.. We haven't heard from her since Wednesday, and I've left several messages. Meanwhile, they're still using my Mother's car. I've left several messages, and finally the 'boyfriend' called today and said the woman still doesn't feel well, (however she's not home), and she felt bad because my Mother made her leave when she came over with the flu. I told him I have to protect my Mother from getting sick and would she like her own Mother to get the flu?

Unfortunately, professional home nursing type help is $200 a DAY and up in my area, and there is no financial assistance unless you are indigent. So we are stuck dealing with lowlifes. I understand that in places like England, home aid is much better. Well, the population isn't getting any younger, so the States better get their act together. (Who am I kidding?)

End of rant.

Suze, we have no way to pay that either! A lot of people hide their assets in order to qualify for financial assistance. Your right, it stinks..and it will probably get worse. Right now we're stuck.

The state of health care in the United States is absolutely shameful. I sincerely hope that you and your mom can find better help, Kevin. Some elders in my extended family have been helped by underpaid angels; my relatives were lucky to find them. But luck should not be a factor for sick, elderly, or disabled people in getting decent health care and help.

NJ, as soon as this couple got their assistance to move into their new house, they gradually stopped showing up. I am looking for someone else..just not there, but I'll keep trying. Glad your family members got help. Thanks for commenting. :)
