The Ark

Whatever floats your boat...

ThatGirl singing Florence and The Machine's celebratory hymn. Interviews with Florence Welch reveal the inspiration for writing, with references to the power of the ocean and nature. It's interesting she says Frida Kahlo and Virginia Woolf creep in...People have made those references to other creepy things I've done.SCORE!

my interpretion of this song, putting singing, greenscreen, costuming, dance, particle illusion, and sony vegas together as a symphony. Thank the goddess, I am done. Special thanks to LtAdams2247 for the Earth VFX and additional sinking effects done in AfterEffects.

Stunning, my dear.

Kudos on all the hard work I know went into it. It shows well.

There's just something about water symbolism eh? *checks dream guide,...blushes*

You rock.

@ you Guys!

@LtAdams - I only walk on two way streets, I will Not take back My Thank You...The flavor you added to the whole was perfectly dark and beyond my reach technically.  That's what makes a team...work. i dig it.

@ Marie. Oh thank you dear lady for coming by when I dropped this Baby on the Ark. Your comment makes me know I got something like what I was going for visually.  Water is life, life is beauty, and the cycle fascinates me..the threat of the power of all the elements...excites, instills fear and reverance all at the same time.

@Ruth - You are a darling to come by and leave such a complimentary comment. I aim at entertaining the viewer, I just always hope that job is done...I love it when someone provides that for me.  I'm trying to fit in what I "have to do" with what I "need to do"...hmmmm.. sometimes the art thing is BOTH for me....like work school and family.

@ Amy - Oh Darling, I thought of you as I was conceptualizing this. I thought of this water video you did... i remembered underwater footage...the freedom of floating, letting go, and being swept away fascinates me especially when I am overwhelmed by life or being unwell.  On this occasion I was trying to show both sides of that coin.  Sometimes, I just want to quit and be swept away. Sometimes I feel the SAME thing..but because I am feeling so GOOD, I want to just float away in it.   Water is woman...she gives life to everything...or she can be a cold dark thief, stealing away life in a blink of an eye...Heavy shnit..the shnit I love...Love you too. I want you to feel good...

That was pretty wonderful, Sara. First time I've heard that song. I like the images you incorporated. In addition to the other images, were you also thinking of Hamlet's Ophelia when you put in this image?

Comment by ThatGirl on October 7, 2011 at 9:50pm

@NJ- Wow, I am a huge Waterhouse fan. He's painted Ophelia too but not in the water. I've got "lady of Shallot" and "Midsummer prints right in my room. I've got a thing for despairing maidens in art. It was only AFTER I put in the effects this shot took on the character and coloration reminding me of Ophelia drowning in the brook>so Yes, it came to mind, but only as a happy accident in post production. Now you've got me going, exploring this genre again. I used to have my whole LiveVideo album filled with favorites like these. I really enjoyed getting into the water in that video, and so glad you friends viewing are seeing things in it too. thank you for watching. Here's who I'm staring at right from where I sit. We had a nickname for her in the past, Desperate Suicidal Redhead..or something...totally lame.

Hauntingly beautiful, especially where you are sinking.   However, if Adams gives you an Earth, be careful... it might explode on you.

"Happy accidents" often make the best art. Some would say there is no such thing as an accident.
