I worked at a university for about 18 years as a photojournalist. I also taught photography there for a few semesters. I'm not sure what makes a good teacher, but I did experience the excitement of sharing the spark

with students when they suddenly 'get it', which could mean any number of things  ie: figuring out what they wanted to do for their final project, or discovering photographic concepts, etc. But for me, those were visceral moments that confirmed to some degree that the process was working. It made it all worthwhile. I don't know if it's possible to quantify those teaching experiences graphically.

I think a good way to evaluate teachers would be to ask the kids,..a simple anonymous survey maybe asking them to list their favorite teachers from first to last and a couple of reasons why they chose the way they did, and then compare that to the grades and improvement or lack of for the kids over a year ?

I *hope* that learning is progressing forward, becoming a better human and for me that means becoming more empathic, more compassionate and understanding, calmer in times of stress, more logical in evaluating any given situation or problem, more confident in one's abilities, more diverse in one's interests, more involved outside of "self",..okay, you're right. That's a whole 'nother vlog.
