The Ark

Whatever floats your boat...

In addition to clips from the SSoS, I included a little scene from Buster Keaton's "The General".

Tony Curtis : " From now on the best of everything is good enough for me."

I'm using that as my motto from now on. This was fun and interesting. As my husband said :

" they don't make movies like those anymore."

Buster at 8:46 : HOly SH*T that was cool. I'll bet it only took a couple of takes for him too,..pure genius.

Hmm. Doesn't seem there are many "un-reasonable" men. I understand, though. I'm straight and I'd watch her walk away.

PERfect scene.

All my education in film history is sorely lacking when it comes to the fifties. You always highlight these cinematic gems in a way that makes me want to find a copy and watch it as soon as I can. Excellent touch finding and using that Keaton clip to illustrate using one obstacle to remove another.

Amy, I wish you the best of everything. Knowing Keaton, he probably used actual railroad ties for that shot, maybe hollowed out for weight.

NJ, it's an honor to introduce you to Sweet Smell of Success!

It is the one of the last in a string of terrific films Alexander MacKendrick made> Maybe you've seen The Man in the White Suit?

Nope. Sorely lacking, I tell you.

Ah... The Sweet Smell of Success... Long ago you used some clips of this in another video; it sent me off googling like mad and I finally found a copy to watch. Thank you! Rapid-fire, clever, cynical, intelligent... and Burt Lancaster. *sigh*
