Whatever floats your boat...

Swamp from Geoffo on Vimeo.

I made a similar video a year or so ago. Basically, I just set up the camera and then flick back and forth through the cover flow feature on iTunes. Then I chop the footage up and reassemble.

I filmed in both 4:3 and in 16:9. I'm learning how interesting things can look when you mix aspect ratios in the same vlog.

The music is "Swamp" by the Talking Heads. The dragging march tempo and little rhythmic curlicues almost guaranteed that the edits would appear to more or less match the music even though I cut the piece before choosing a song.

Very interesting. I recently found the cache folder of thumbnails for every recording I've made. I've been trying to think of a way to use them, and this piece gives me some ideas. thanks.

I feel like I've just received a reading with rock stars substituting for tarot cards.

A tarot reading. Brilliant!

Lima, your creative videos are a treat. I'm not being pushy but I miss them.

Prez, I have the feeling you're gonna do something really interesting.

Geoff, thanx for explaining the process. I'm on a learning curve, finally made the switch to a mac and it's a new challenge. good stuff!

Good luck, Victoria. I use an older version of iMovie and the big conceptual jump for me was understanding that I could keep on processing footage--export it and bring it back in again and keep working. The transitions I use are push cuts, wipes, overlaps, and cross dissolves. I use six or fewer video effects out of all those choices. I think that some of the other options are gimmicks and I'm just happier playing with a limited palette.
