Wow, Fred, I could actually hear the difference! I used to live with a musician who changed his strings every week. He practiced about 8 hours a day, and by the end of the week, his strings would have that dead sound instead of that crisp, metalic ring.

Great description of LV: like your old neighborhood where you don't quite feel comfortable anymore. That expresses it for me exactly. I just look in there now and then to answer emails and drop a few comments for others. The Ark has come to encapsulate the best of LV for me, so I continue to be grateful for it. And I'm so glad you're here.

I've got three to restring here and two I'm not going to bother with.

I don't bother with LV any more. My channel is gone. Your description fit well.

Nice! I'm not posting there. Doing more here and on VH. I had a completely original (which I rarely do) painting and music vid that was "removed for copyright". After all the time for uploading and approval - It pissed me off greatly and I thought - why bother?
Then the porn stuff got to be too much.
There's a giant Milwaukee drill here. Crappy to think about a Shanghai Milwaukee.

OMG, you lived with one of us!
Some people prefer the thumpy sound of old string; I, like you, prefer the bell like ring.

LV - what can we say? Things change, I'm just pleased there are other places now.

@spacemonkey

Having several guitars = fun
Stringing several guitars = not so much.

Yeah, I watched you "leave the building" at LV. I'm glad you landed here.

I hear you - I use those "long life" Elixir strings, but even once every six months is a bother.

I agree, LV has good people. Somehow the admins don't seem to care much. IMHO.

@FHP
Yeah, the strange administration at LV made it, well, unpleasant. Life is too short to spend time on waiting for approval.

I bet that drill is really heavy-duty. I wonder how the MET products will change now that cheap is more important than quality.

Oh well, nothing remains the same except for the increase in the rate of change.

I understand your reluctance to change strings, but on acoustic guitars they really start to sound “dead” and lose volume. The sound thing gets me motivated (sometimes).
Yup, the crisis is global – not good!
