YES ! The word 'tolerance' has always irked me. It implies that there is something to be,...
well,...tolerated, a cold virus or an annoying bad-breathed close-talker on the bus, or learning to hold your tongue during water-boarding.
Instead of tolerance training, there needs to be acceptance training.

Great response Amy.

I have a sense that as much strife as there is in the world, there's less and less intolerance as we trudge along over the decades and centuries. It's easy to believe humanity's going to shit sometimes because technology makes the bad news instantly available and let's face it, good news hardly gets ad revenue and no one's watchin' for all the amazing things that go down on this planet on the part of humans. And very few people beyond those in some academic disciplines (humanities, mostly) are taking note of the patterns and seeing what is, perhaps, the Big Picture.

For instance, even though the population is growing exponentially, the number of those who die as a result of warfare has decreased over the last century (When I read about that in National Geographic, I was stunned...)
