Mmmmmm! More donuts!

I kinda think there's something a little too fake-solemn about using money to memorialize the noble dead (and in the case of Keith, the living dead). For one thing, what we perceive as noble changes with time--witness a slave owner being bumped by a former slave. For another thing, the very act or memorializing someone on a bill becomes a way of sanctioning the whole of their lives, and every life is scandalous in some way. So I wonder if we should just skip having faces on our money. Maybe instead use it to hype our various state flowers, or brag on our national parks. You know, like postage stamps.

But if we're gonna stick with faces, then I say let's replace Ben Franklin with Prince.

Well I for one am sick of seeing him in that photo holding a newspaper saying "Hey Mick, look who I outlived this week".   He outlived the twinkie at one point.   Bastard.

Very few students I've met can even recognize their faces anymore.  Stewie, J Roc, Angry birds or maybe wiz kalifa , they'd recognize.  Poor Harriet Tubman or even Keith, would go unnoticed. I passed another teacher this week in the hallway saying "does anyone know who this Prince is?". she was at least 40,wtf???  Human beings never fail to disgust...I need a dose of this more often..thank you.

@ NJ- I think they should do composites of the the common man and woman and then everyone could tell their kids, nieces and nephews that it's them.

@ Chig- You made me laugh so hard that I popped an internal stabilizer mount. You'll hear from my e-lawyer.

@ TG- I am so lost right now as far as what's "in" and it might just be that I crossed that geezer threshold but the the trends happen so quickly now that I don't even think the kids can keep up. I was at work today watching the tower repair guys work on one of those REALLY big flag poles(cell tower) and thinking of the tower of Babel.

@ MOTC- I had to be ready to dive under the bed in case the Federal Reserve sent some guys to take care of me. I don't want to be taken care of. It's in my DNR.

Okay, truth : The tripod was in that corner of the room and I don't get paid for this and it was a work night and I was lazy. WHY AM I CONFESSING TO YOU ?! Are you a witch? Are you Keith Richards?
