My mother showing me some of the quilts, afghans, bedspreads, and hooked rugs in her family history.
In 1980 I rented a video camera and filmed her to document these things.

I like the one at 2:15, very nice. Pretty star/sun burst quilt. That is a really pretty throw made out of the carpet? stuff at 4:37, not sure the correct word for it. The one that weighs a ton.. It's Lovely. Oh the rug is beautiful!

This makes me realize how emblematic quilts and other hand-crafted bed coverings are of family and warmth. When I look at a quilt made in 1929, I can't help but think of the generations of people who slept beneath it, and the personal history of the givers and receivers.
