Whatever floats your boat...

My son, Elijah and I did this over the course of three days. We had a blast and have been enjoying it a lot.

That was awesome Debra. I wish I could do that here, but I live in the city limits, so no open fires... :(

I just can't stand how cute that baby is - I just want to kiss her! Yes, we enjoy the fires out here in the woods - it is a way to spend time together without staring at a TV screen.

Fire pits are the BEST TVs, inspiring introspection and creativity. I can't think of a better way to spend time with friends and family and you've passed on a gift to your son that he will cherish forever. That's the kind of work that causes THE most satisfying aches and pains. The kind where you think ' oh yeah,...I earned that ',...and smile to yourself as you slip contently further under the warm bath water. very cool.

We moved into this house about 6 mths before Robert left us and went back to Poland. One of the things we wanted to do here at the new house was to build a fire pit. Robert and I spent a lot of time doing things like this together. For a year after he left, we would talk on SKYPE and he would tell me how much he loved me and missed me....we had this ongoing thing - I would say "I'm gonna build the fire pit this weekend" and he would say "you better not Debra - we are going to do that together when I come back home" and he would give me this stern look of seriousness. I would laugh, but on the inside it would give me hope that someday we would be together again. Then he would say good bye to me and go to be with another woman.
Our divorce will be final in just a few days. Building the fire pit was more than just exercise and fun for me and my son - it was a part of the healing process that we need to go thru. It's not finished yet, it is just the beginning, we will eventually have a patio around it, and perhaps a little Ti-Ki hut. I've been told that the best revenge is to "live well" and I plan on doing just that - life is good.
