Stop the Ark Takeover!

Okay, Arkians, big wake up call.

Syd, out of the kindness of her heart and the depth of her pocket, forks out a few bucks a month so that the rest of us can play here and have fun. And yet no one's playing these days except...

Doris Anne Beaulieu.

That's right. Doris. Doris who will never read this blog, and so therefore I don't have to worry about hurting her feelings. Because she only dumps her content here from YouTube as she does elsewhere, hoping that someone will link to her personal site and buy her screenplay. She has never responded to a single person's content here or even acknowledged their comments on hers. She's not interested in the community here.

Yet the rest of have allowed a situation where she now contributes more than two-thirds of the content of this site, using up Syd's generosity to the rest of us. We are witnessing the Doris Anne Beaulieu takeover.

Oh, I don't mean to be terribly cruel to Doris about this, because I'm going to be the first here to raise my hand and confess that I'm guilty of throwing stones at a glass house. I realized today in thinking about whether I should make a birthday video for someone, that I haven't made any kind of video over the year since their last birthday. It's been mighty quiet on the Ark, so who can blame Doris for filling the silent void?

And yet I still peek in here every day, hoping that someone else has posted something. Every now and then, I get my wish and that's why the Ark continues to be my favorite site. When the people I care about on this site post something, I still get a little excited and that's why I keep tuning in. Turns out, I actually really, really care about seeing the desert life of Arizona, what it's like recovering from a liver transplant, whether life is working out for a woman in Topanga Canyon, when that dude in Deutschland is going to get back on the grid and blow up some things that need blowing up, if I can find a recipe for baking some bread the Quebec way, the state of education in Micronesia, the scribblings of a scribbler, how Mel's taste in music has changed, if Kevin is doing okay, and maybe just a dose of purpose every now and then.

Here I have become the person who always eats at the potluck yet never brings a dish herself, and now I'm complaining that the table is bare. Well, not totally bare. Thank you, BlancheNoE, for the recent dessert suggestion.

So I will make this pledge: Before the month of October has ended, I will post a video of some kind. I'm not lacking ideas, just time, but I will make this a priority. God knows I'm old enough to know that you can't maintain relationships without keeping up contact. I miss the rest of you, so I'm committing to re-involvement. The relationships I've formed on this site over the last few years are important to me. I hope they are to the rest of you too, and I encourage you all return to whatever level of frequency you can manage.

I have often thought of abusing my admin powers to wield the ban hammer on DAB ha ha. I think of this site and my friends here often and I do feel guilty about how little I have contributed. But I'm getting reconnected to the internet at the end of November so hopefully I can get back involved then. Thanks for this great blog. Really made me laugh ; )
