Whatever floats your boat...

This is just early free flow thoughts.... maybe just a poor idea... dunno.

First off, I like to think in terms of positive outcome....

It seems that all of us came together for one major project, we could move mountains.  Tell me what kind of mountains you would like to move.   How would you make this planet a little better?

Next

What kind of stories do you like?

Do some of you remember sometime ago an animated cartoon, in which several animators were given the final frame of the previous animators cartoon, and told to animate their own short... then they were all put together in one animated film?   What would that be like if we had similar directions with a movie in which each of us are given an act and a minimalist story bible, and the last five seconds of the scene of the act which proceeded our act.   Maybe there might be directions, such as include this piece of music... or convey this emotion.... but let artistic license rest primarily on the owner of the act....

what do you think?

I seriously question the notion that if we all pitched in together we could "move mountains". Turn stomachs maybe. But as the great prophet Yog said "a journey of a thousand miles starts with a single bout of stomach flu."

I like the idea of a big collaboration. I think the challenge of a sequential collab will be maintaining momentum when and if there is a big interruption in the chain. Somebody finds they are called away from the computer by other commitments when it is their turn to add to the sequence. A story bible and merciless drill sergeant type (Chig is properly terrifying and it is his idea so...) will help us stay on track.

If someone tells me where I'm starting from and where I need to end up and when it is due, I can deliver.

LOL... yeah... The result of the collab would probably yield a draft that needs to be polished and worked and reworked...   I would not claim sole ownership of any of this idea.  In fact I am hoping that there would be a lot of different ideas that no one of us could come up with.

If I were to put a deadline on this first draft, and it might be a tad unrealistic I would say next summer.   At the moment I am as open to anything as anyone else here.

Peter likes "hitman without a conscience." Peter likes "hitman with mismatched socks."

I like the idea of turning stomachs, Geoff. The miasma of patchouli oil should do it.

So :     Caring enough to turn stomachs.  *sniff*,     it's beautiful. You all complete me.

Chig is indeed terrifying.

And, coincidentally, I have patchouli oil.

the first Question: -bringing clean water and healthcare to about half the human population on this planet trumps education delivery as a priority. We're pretty much tackling that and it's easier to accomplish. We're still talking about meeting basic human needs when we look at "changing the world". Guiding kids toward careers of true contribution is a way to reach all of those goals. They are the future.  Our plugged-in society is transforming the World into a child's OWN backyard and creating a sense of "ownership" which can lead them to altruistic efforts in their careers. I have seen it evolve in my own kids and the last generation of students as long as we keep their minds open about how small this world really is.

The Research being done at universities by our future leaders is highly focused on developing solutions to those fundamental issues. there are just as many projects dedicated to exploring mirco and macro environment in the search for medical and technological advancements but...honestly, i'm thinking more on the lines of lifestraw, basic vaccines, and nutrition.

WHO, globalissues.org and UNmillenium report have some valid figures in a close range

about 780 mil- 1.1bil are without clean drinking water, and 1/3 of the worlds population (1.3 - >2bil) do not have access to basic health care, 114-121 mil without education ...(each institution uses different sets of variables in determining these figures, however, it's pretty clear where they stand in comparison.

On a smaller scale, think small and realize you change the world everyday that you do things for others in your OWN community and everytime your work effects another in a positive way. Everytime you see your child make a decision which benefits others rather than self, you change the world. it all happens in small increments one person at a time. talking does nothing, its all about doing...aint it?

Nice TG.

Geoff, I think I like this line for the first line of narration of our story  "A sharp whiff of cordite penetrates the miasma of patchouli oil."   Perhaps Syd having patchouli oil could be the assassin.

It just dawned on me : You know who did this before in amazing fashion ? annelidafilms. Remember "Dear Mr. President" ?.  We need him.

Comment by NatureJunkie on August 8, 2014 at 2:22pm

@ Blanche: I remember Dear Mr. President. Annelida did an amazing job. It would be wonderful to see him here again. He enlisted me for a blockbuster he was working on last year, but after I sent him my clip he dropped out for a while. I HOPE it's only for a while. I hope he's lurking and will read this and know how much his participation here is missed.
