Whatever floats your boat...

I have been wondering a lot about the role "choices" make in our lives. I mean, have we gotten to where we are by a series of deliberate choices or have circumstances dictated our lives? I didn't "choose" to be born and yet I was. I didn't "choose" who my parents were or if I would have brothers and sisters. I didn't "choose" in what order we would be born....I didn't choose to grow up the way I did. I did however choose to survive all of that. I did choose to move on from where my parents left off. I did choose my husband, I chose to have my children. I chose to make decisions based on the information at hand at the times decisions had to be made...

So why do I find myself feeling as if life has run over me and I have no control when the fact is I can choose to take control...?

@Dee, I understand that your blog is your personal point of view. I am simply clarifying mine. Dan is stating his, etc. That's what makes this site work for me, sharing views.
I'm glad you got some help for your hip, mine started to hurt a few weeks ago, hmm..(but I hate going to doctors).

I don't have a problem with anyone stating their point of view, I have enjoyed the give and take.

What I was concerned about was that you seemed to think I was stating something about the choices YOU have or haven't made.. or suggesting that you had giving up or had a defeatist attitude and I wasn't. I just wanted to be clear that I wasn't pointing fingers at anyone else...

I hate doctors also....but with one little shot... my hip is 99% better and I can get back to living my life.

take care.

Check any philosophy textbook and you'll see that the debate regarding free will vs. determinism has been going on for thousands of years.

@Dee, I guess we all have our 'hot buttons'. I understand that you weren't calling me defeatist. Sorry for misunderstanding. No worries. :)

All the best.

@ Dee - you start good debates. I like being made to think : )

Now I'm hungry. I'm gonna go get a taco.

But did you really choose the taco, or was it your internal craving and your guilt about the Anglo-Spanish War and your current financial status and the convenience of it?

I had tacos last night.. from a place called salsaritas.. OMG.. THEY HAVE THE BEST "CANTINA" STYLE FOOD. Everything is fresh.. the have fresh salsa, cilantro, guacamole... mmmm.. so so good.

@jim- personally I chose the taco because they had a special.. I was actually considering getting enchiladas...never tried those from there.
@Dan- Thanks, I love a good "FRIENDLY" debate. Thank you for your honest input.

@ BlancheNoE - Ah, oui, mais à l'époque, nous les appellons "la volonté libre" et "determinisme", n'est-ce pas?
