I love this. I've seen it before. I've read that in the 19th century, the skies looked like this over the Bay Area, but no more. Scientists study the movement of birds in murmerations, which closely resemble the movements of schools of fish. It's odd to think that the atmosphere was once as teeming with life as the ocean, but no longer. Very cool to know that this kind of thing still shows itself.
