Whatever floats your boat...
She never spoke English except a few words.
When Italy came to America my dad (bottom left) was 2 years old, they lived in Brooklyn. Grandma was a seamstress and grandpa a brick worker. Grandma made all her children's clothes, she taught me to sew and made dresses for me when I came along.Grandpa worked on bridges and tunnels throughout New York, then owned his own businesses. He built a big multi-family house in Canarsie, and when he retired, he sat on the porch watching the neighborhood, holding his yardstick for the boyz ---It had their names on either end and got well-used on one particular end.
A Cousin found this old photo and confirmed that my son looks So like my grandmother, it appears to be him in a wig and woman's clothes sitting there.
next pic is my son
There are no photos of grandpa but he was Barese and very dark. Grandma was northern Italian with blue eyes and fair complexion.
No wonder I could NEVER master the language. You can learn Italian, but when the Baresi speak, it's something ELSE.
