Whatever floats your boat...
Poor Minimonk-last day of school emergency loses him his summer, again, but 2 weeks later/traveling to 3 specialists, fighting for diagnostics and finally confirmed "no emergency surgery", whew! There's nothing worse than being a "wait and see" patient but that's where he is for now, weekly checks to avoid thoracic surgery. This one is risk vs. benefit negotiable. To go from Trauma center ordering surgery within 48hrs to waiting 2 weeks to get insurance to approve doctors and diagnostics,to ending up with no surgery is one scary ride. What it takes to get complete care for a complicated injury when insurance will not pay the treating trauma team--is a fulltime job of beating on doors. All camps and summer activities cancelled for now, but at least he's got his pool from "the Summer of Spleen". This kid cannot catch a break, nor can we in any way it seems, but lives are all that matters. I told him to play this up with the girls..."milk it for all it's worth, you got nothing to lose, baby". Got to find the positive in it somewhere.
