this particular one related to a VERY common FEAR which arose early on in the pandemic. The fear that IF they tested, and were positive their insurance would find out about their covid status, and put them on "a LIST". , like an elimination list. THIS fear drove a portion of the population to RESIST testing, refuse to quarantine or isolate when they had symptoms. Many were convinced covid positivity was going to be like "the mark of the devil" for them socially, and would be deadly to be known by the Health Department and medical community . So they HID their infections and practiced superspreading.

This is largely why we could only track less than 1% of infection (according to CDC 2020-2021). We would only encounter cases which advanced enough to needing emergency care. NOW that we have home tests, we have no idea where infection is unless we're getting the data from sewers.

They feared if hospitalized, they would be euthanized. They accused us, ICU staff and treating physicians of euthanizing patients, that no one was really dying, and we were just "killing them" for profit. They said they believed this because the hospital parking lots were more empty and the public were not permitted in hospitals due to infectious disease control measures.


The dumbing down has been a colossal success.
