When I look at the moon in particular, it brings back memories of times I've stared at the moon in the past. For instance, while riding my bike at night in my college days, or emerging from a party with friends and seeing the moon in the sky. Seeing the stars reminds me of times I've done open-air camping, and watched meteor showers in the still of the night. But what tends to happen when I really stare at the night sky is that I get a sense of the infinite. This makes my own life seem very tiny in the grand scheme of things, which is both comforting and humbling. Comforting because no problem I happen to be dealing with really means much in the long run, and humbling, well, that's pretty self-explanatory. This is a great question, Syd, because it's so open-ended. I'm curious how others will respond.
