"If it is a placebo effect, tricking the patient into wellness, how come it works with animals?"

Where homeopathy appears to work with animals, it could still be the placebo effect at work, not on the animal itself, but on the human who is observing it. After all, dogs and cats can't tell us how they feel, can they? If a pet owner or researcher wants to believe that homeopathy is medicine, they will observe those changes in the animal that seem to support their premise.

The placebo effect is one of the most powerful agents of medicine. To my way of thinking, if a treatment stimulates the placebo effect, then that in itself is desirable.
