Hey Sue!! Good to see and hear ya!
Regarding the song...I don't want to shatter my dork-status among my students so I'm not up with any new music- haven't heard of those you mention, but yeah...sounds like you're right on about sin being the thing since...well, since the bite of an apple, really.

I love teaching about media. My students, each year, are outraged by the realization that they're being manipulated by use of certain persuasive advertising tactics. At the middle school level, they start out as being very passive viewers and consumers, but it doesn't take much to help them become more critical of the messages they're exposed to.

At the high school level, students are already much more cynical than marketers know about our culture, in general.
