What is it?

There has been some discussion about art of late. What is it? What makes it good or bad? Valuable or worthless? For what it's worth, here are my thoughts on the subject...

I believe that when the ordinary becomes extraordinary it is art. It happens when someone takes something they have learned and perfected in their very own personal way, whether they wield a paint brush, a hammer, a lathe or a pen. Art is a marriage between skill and creativity. It is thought in color. It is creativity in motion. It is subjective, manipulative, personal, questioning. It is inspired, dignifying, communicative. It is flawlessness, but not always pleasing; often despised, occasionally painful; it is fearless. It is eloquence. It is what we believe it to be.

Funny, just last night I was having dinner and drinks with some friends and this was something we dicussed.  It was more about graphic sexual content that is said to be art.  Is it really art or porn...etc.

I'm going to start reading your blogs before I hang with my friends.  You can be my Cerino De Bergerac of concise thought. ;0)
