I had to google "iron ring" to even know what that is! No, it isn't an iron ring. Just a simple silver band that at one time had the design of a braid stamped into it, all worn off now from use. Hippie jewelry bought from a street merchant on Telegraph Avenue, doncha know.
I'm glad you're finally back from vacation. I was gettin' a-scared you weren't coming back. And what with me still hangin' on for the Story of White Wolf and all...
When I was in my twenties, my shoe size was 7. Over the decades, it has increased one half-size at a time up to size 9. But the last two pairs I bought fit well with size 8 1/2.
I can only conclude that I have begun the shrinking process that accompanies old age.
I feel the same way about "Milk." The day of Harvey Milk's assassination was too embedded in my personal history for me to ever want to see it dramatized, or, god forbid, fictionalized. "The Times of..." though, that felt like it was stolen from my personal scrapbook. It was both truthful and authentic.
Today, another breakthrough moment: When I greeted Hardy this morning and bent down to scratch behind his ear, instead of ducking his head slightly as he has always done before, his ears went back happy-style and I saw no fear at all in his eyes.
Just wanted to thank you for watching and listening to the creative stuff suddenly pouring out of me these days. and your comments don't go unappreciated, in fact, they are the motivator to keep doing what I love to do...have great weekend and enjoy Hanna. I'm going to try to fit it in myself. got alot to do...oy
I like the term "recovering Catholic". stopped by to tellya. Think I'll try that on sometimes as the A-word gets me stoned in these here parts. a little humor is a great difuser. I share your pain..I too am a recovering Catholic.
I am constantly checking myself on that second one. Good people explain WAY more than they should. It gives the devious fuckers the edge when you start explaining stuff that doesn't need explanation,...makes you look like your trying to convince yourself instead of them. I swore by the first part of that motto until 3 years ago when I found out that the bursting ribcage feeling I had as a teenager and was sent to a psychologist for WAS in fact a bursting ribcage. I didn't complain until I was 43. Now just TRY to shut me up *laughing*.
Great motto and yeah, I hate myself when I break my own personal rules too but I'm learning to go easier on me.
*smack* ( I'll let you guess whether it was a kiss-kind or an on-the-ass kind )
HEE-hee,..I didn't think for a second that it was aimed at me, dear. I thought it was a good blog,....and as to the *smack*, the on-the-ass kind, of course !
It was supposed to be a love pat. Stupid doctors... went in for a liver and they installed a bionic arm instead. I'll re-callibrate and try again *grin*.
I Love that you use the phrase "all by my lonesome". I thought I might be the only one. What are the origins? Is it an Irish thing, a former-catholic thing, a northeastern thing?
Your comments and videos, from a mother, who is also another recovering catholic make me feel not so alone in my struggle to maintain some kind of order and tradition in an atheist home. My kids make me wonder sometimes, if I should have chosen to sell them the lie. I actually DID start them out that way out of sheer surrender to family pressures, and woke up quickly, and said, these are MY children. I actually discuss my choice with the kids often, because living by a set of morals you simply "decide" is a good idea, is challenging...from one recovering catholic to another. amen sistah
Your messages were a wonderful thing to wake up to. It's wonderful to get to know more about a person. I appreciate your experiences and sharing a bit of your personal journey. Although I've become a pretty much militant atheist, I repeat the message incessantly that my kids are free to explore their world and decide for themselves where to invest their energies, and that I will always stand beside them. At the same time, I promise to also protect them from "deception" no matter what form it may take. I'm no hero, thats for sure and I'm always questioning too. The road is bumpy but I always see the seeds of reason growing into productive things in the kids. I just ADORED the 'story'. Made it easier to decide how to prioritize my chores today..family first. have a wonderful weekend, dear lady.
I'd Totally hire your son to write the Zombie Game! Damn I wish I could get 'B' to just write me that first check!..I need some capital to get started...bwaaaa..have a lovely sunday, I know I won't be in church...
I bought Jermaines album for one song (below..and trust me, it was the only good song on the album), but at the same time I was buying Midnight Oil, OMD and such. Can you believe the sappiness factor of this song I liked at the time? OY!!!
Okay!I hope this doesn't seem cheesy, but since you enjoyed, this song has a little flavor, which might just hit the spot with you. This is a live Version, where you can SEE the soul of this artist. i ADORE singing this song, but have never been brave enuf to post it. maybe someday my son will learn to play it and I could do it. until then, here is passionate BRILLIANCE.
Did I not say something to you months ago on the order of, I'd know I had really won Hardy's trust if he ever chose to sleep beside me? I was thinking of that this morning when I took this picture.
The sleepy girl cuddled beside him is my newest foster addition, Becky.
Re: The Dresses..AWWW..so pretty AND so handsome. that top one IS adorable. I cant see wanting to wear the one you love as often as possible. just adorable.
Ze Frank (the froggy's auteur) was maybe the first vlogger I was ever really aware of. I'd forgotten him totally and then ran into "True Facts About The Frog" about a week ago. Since then I've been sharing his videos around because he is such a funny guy. Thoughtful too, when he wants to be:
after you mentioned silks, thought I'd share a local Aerial artist who is skyrocketing to public recognition after suspending from the Williamsburg Bridge for a performance and getting arrested...it was foolish but shes an artist. to be expected.

If I lived in your neck of the woods, I would DEFINITELY go to this. Especially Antoine Dufour, my favorite guitarist of the moment.
Why does Canada have a monopoly on all the best music?

OH MY. White Wolf is truly gorgeous. Enjoy your time at the lake. The more I anticipate the story, the more fun it will be to hear it.
Meanwhile, here's a teaser of my own, the star of my upcoming Foster Chronicles.
