Garage Band comes with some fun "loops" which are pre-recorded short segments. I used a couple on "WasMawd" and haven't used them since. There's just too much original stuff to be made. With "The Lieutenant's Theme", I started with a metronome track, laid down the cello first, then the violins (2 tracks), then added percussion (3 tracks), then added the horns, and lastly, the church bell, for a total of 8 manually played tracks. Now, I am not a virtuoso. Garage Band allows you to go in after you've recorded and " tighten up " your tracks note by note , meaning fine tuning them by cleaning up timing errors and adding notes that you forgot to play or didn't even know should be there but weren't yet. It is just SO much fun,..and like all art, the accidents that happen along the way are THE most fun of all. So often I just feel SO freakin' grateful to be along for the ride.
