Pain and Clutter

Clutter is becoming a metaphor for my life. Not just the clutter of papers, unopened mail, boxes from Amazon, and electronic junk I see, but the clutter in my head. That's the worst clutter, the stuff I wake up with that is a part of what keeps me from moving forward. In fact, moving forward has become a meaningless phrase to me. That's partly what chronic pain does to you. I have literally been to between 30 to 50 doctors in the past 20 years in an effort to get pain relief. They are so afraid… Continue

More LV stuff.

There's a sweet person named Gina who works for LiveVideo. She has been there a long time. She had a live room today, and the topic was making LV better. She said they want to improve the place and bring people back. i said the people who left don't like the 18+ area, and they also expect to get support from the management. A lot of people agreed, especially about the porn. She asked about Caveman specifically and said they would put his pages back up if he wanted to come baxk. Anyone seen… Continue

Dwelling on recent events.

With the news today of the passing of Walter Cronkite, an icon of my childhood and throughout my life, and all the other recent deaths of celebrated figures, does anyone else find themselves dwelling on their own mortality? I mean, we may not have known these people personally, but they

did exist somewhere in our synapses and grey matter. Maybe I'm feeling this more than those who have children? I always hear that children are a person's 'legacy'. Is that how those of you who are parents… Continue

Paul McCartney is on Letterman tonight for the first time. At the Ed Sullivan Theatre, where The Beatles first played in the U.S.A. (That's where the Letterman show is taped) That is… Continue

LV stuff

7am, just wanted to leave a quick message before sleep. I just stopped in a live room

on LV and there was a lot of chat going on about the future of LV. Turned out Brad Greenspan,

creator of LiveUniverse, was there and getting hit with a lot of questions like why the 18+ section is so easy to access by underaged folks, LV terrorism, (haters) on LV, legal issues, etc. One thing I found

interesting is that live content will soon function via cellphone according to Brad.

He… Continue

My regret.

When I was still working all those years ago, once in awhile my Dad would stop by to visit me in my office. It was only a few times, but I was so glad to see him. The last time he stopped by my office was probably more than 15 years ago. I can see him walking in the door now. He had a big smile on his face. He was still driving then. I said: "Dad, I'm really busy now, this isn't a good time.", or something else equally stupid. He said ok and he left. I think that was the last time he came to… Continue

Remembrance.

I come from a family of many cousins, Aunts and Uncles. Made for wonderful family gatherings during the holidays. Great memories. Recently the realization of how my family is shrinking is hitting me hard. Of 9 Uncles, one remains..and I last saw him at my Dad's funeral, 13 years ago.

For some reason I'm thinking of my Uncle Arthur tonight. We called him Uncle Artie. He passed away many years ago. He had a wonderful laugh..his whole body shook and his shoulders would bounce up and… Continue

A Poem.

Spider spider on the wall

Don't you have any brains at all?

Don't you know that wall's been plastered?

Get off that wall you dirty spider!

I'm posting this blog in case something bad happens.

I'm posting this because I am concerned that the couple who help my Mother and me might harm us, and we have nobody to help us that lives nearby.

Has anyone had help in your home for things like cooking, cleaning, or various other tasks, but the people helping you make you uncomfortable, or they take advantage of you?

This is the case with a couple who helps my Mother and me.

They borrow money BESIDES what we pay them, and don't pay it back. They use my Mother's car, (with… Continue

Oreo Intervention!

I never thought this would happen again. I mean, it's one thing when you're a kid..you can go through a package of Oreos and walk it off, but not when you've reached Ye Olde Fahrtdom, as I have!

I hadn't eaten one in years. Those wonderful cookies in all their creamy centered, pull-apart, milk-dunking, perfect roundness with ridges, delightfulness. But then recently I discovered, Newman-O's! An organic Oreo! No more guilt that I'm destroying my personal ozone layer… Continue

My First Car, Part Three, (RIP)

Picture a sunny summer day in New England. This was how my day started as I left home for my job at the camera store. Got in my MG, it started, and off I went. Parked it under the nice big ole' tree for a little shade, the only tree that bordered the parking lot at work. Comes 5:25pm, time to get ready to close up..suddenly the sky gets very dark. The darkness envelopes the parking lot until literally we couldn't see past the large windows of the shop. Then the wind picked up..strong… Continue

My First Car, Part Two.

Once, driving down a hill, I hit a patch of sand on a curve. Suddenly I was driving down the hill..backwards. I felt the car bump, then it felt like I was going up in the air. I came to a stop. I got out of the car and the right two wheels had climbed up a low stone wall in someone's front yard. The bizarre, and extremely lucky thing, was that the wall started at grass level, so my car literally 'climbed' up the wall. No external damage to the car, or me, and relatively minor damage to the… Continue

My First Car, Part One.

This is a love..and hate..and love..and hate, story. In the 1970's, I was working at my first job after graduating college. I had jobs while a college student, cleaning toilets in a department store, driving people to and from JFK and LaGuardia Airports, but those were part time jobs. My first full time job was as a salesman in a camera store in my downtown area. I accepted the position mainly because I needed the money to pay off my college loans. I rationalized that it was okay to work in a… Continue

A Crime.

Does anyone else live in an apartment or condo that doesn't allow pets? We moved here from a house that was in my family for almost 50 years. It was a wonderful old 3-family house. It had gotten too difficult to manage after my Dad passed away, and anyone who has rented to tenants knows what a nightmare it can be, and it often was. So..after trying to sell the house for years, we finally got a buyer. We were lucky to find a condo in a nice area for a reasonable price in a high-rise building.… Continue

My Annie Leibovitz story.

I wasn't aware of the sad situation photographer Annie Leibovitz was in until I read Hol's blog. It brought back a flood of memories regarding three encounters I had with Annie Leibovitz. They were very meaningful for me, though I am doubtful that she would remember me.

After I discovered my love for photography, I also discovered that I enjoyed taking pictures at concerts. I went to a lot of concerts in the '70's. The Who, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, to name a few.… Continue

Sigh..

The level that some people operate at never ceases to amaze me. My Mom and I have a couple

we pay to help us..light cooking, cleaning, etc. They also have full use of my Mother's car, and we pay their car insurance..they don't own their own car and the woman, (not wife, they aren't married, just living together), is on state assistance, which is paying for their rental house. When we started using them, things were fine..they were more than helpful. Then some weird stuff started happening.… Continue

Who do you trust?

Would you let a complete stranger into your home on a Sunday, or any other day, if they said they were from the Census Bureau, even if they presented a card, and answer a lot of personal questions? Or would you ask them to leave..politely but firmly? I live in a high-rise building with a door person. The doorman called to say someone was here to see us, and my Mother told the doorman to let the woman up. Unfortunately, I didn't intercept the call first, but I did stop the interview immediately.… Continue

Dreams

Do you dream? I believe we all dream, but we don't always remember them. Lately I've been dreaming a lot..vivid, often unpleasant dreams. I have
read that dreams are sometimes a means of working out problems we deal with in our
daily lives. Do you believe that? What do your dreams mean to you?

Groundhog Day

Punxatawny Phil said we're gonna get another 8 weeks of winter. Not because he
saw his shadow, but because he never got paid for his part in the Bill Murray movie.
Also, he wants to remind Mr. Murray about "Good touch, bad touch". He said
Bill will know what he means.
