Whatever floats your boat...

A haiku is a poem consisting of three lines and 17 syllables.

The first line is five syllables.

The second line is seven syllables.

The third line is five syllables.

You can pack a lot of meaning (or a lot of nonsense) into 17 syllables. Haiku is like the Twitter of the poetry world.

You can approach a video haiku at least a couple of different ways. Syd's format is to present her lines as three video clips, the first lasting five seconds, the second lasting seven seconds, and the third lasting five seconds, with her haiku superimposed as text. (See "Paper Birch")

I made one that was just one clip with the lines superimposed over it in sequence.

Or instead of superimposing text, you could narrate it. Jack Handey style even:

Deep thoughts, silliness
Insightful as they may be
Sometimes I wonder

Oh, I love Haiku!  Indeed I do.  :)  this one should not be too much of a problem for me at the moment to create!   :D

I actually took a look at Stephen Fry's book "The Ode Not Travelled" for the lowdown on haiku. And then I decided: NJ asked for a video haiku so I'm gonna do without words altogether. Some haiku traditions maintain that a reference to the season is de rigueur. I'm jettisoning that rule too. And there is a particular call and response between the three lines that I now can't recall, so won't even try to emulate.
