Whatever floats your boat...

Walking my dogs early last evening, I saw what at first looked like a helicopter with a search light, except that it was so very high in the sky its beam was nowhere near touching anything at ground level. The "beam" began to wobble a bit, then it traveled for quite a way in a straight, direct line in a northerly direction. It began to glow whiter and larger and then a cone of light began to trail behind it.

Cool, I thought, a comet! But if it was, this was the largest comet I've ever seen in my life. The cone of light became larger and then a trail of light began to extend from the cone, like a horizontal mushroom cloud. Now I was just plain scared. I was expecting a shock wave and I thought about running for cover, but what kind of cover? I just stood there transfixed. It began to look like a huge arrow of light in the sky.

The cone got larger and wider as the tip got brighter. Then the tip seemed to fizzle out like a cinder in the wind. Okay, I thought. It was just the hugest-ass meteorite I've ever seen, that's all. November is the month for meteor showers and I was blessed to see it.

Except that the dying ember fizzled back to life again and changed direction.

It wasn't a UFO for very long. By this morning, CBS Los Angeles had reported that it came from a scheduled Trident SLBM missile test, fired from a submarine near Point Mugu. But during that time when I didn't know what in the hell I saw, I was relieved that people all over the Bay Area saw it too. In fact, it was seen from all over California and as far east as Arizona and Nevada. The weird thing is that if you go to YouTube today and watch the dozens of videos people captured with their phones, most of them comment on how close it looks, even though we witnesses were hundreds of miles apart. To me, it looked so close I feared the cone-mist would descend on my neighborhood in a dust cloud.

Oh by the way, the X-Files miniseries revival is going to air in January.

I saw this all over the news !

Nice to have an on-scene report. You should be paid more. Tell your boss I said so.

Can you believe they're launching this shit so close to heavily populated cities????

Wait, I just remembered what planet I'm on.

Never mind.

Blanche, the missile was ejected from a submarine and flew only over the Pacific Ocean. That's why it was weird that it seemed so close to people on land. I always figured our armed missiles (based on old movies) were about the size of a space launch. But who in the citizenry really knows?

It was unarmed. But did it disintegrate when all of of us skygazers where watching it? Something at the tip of that cloud looked like it changed direction. All of the videos I've seen show you just what this one does. But I saw that thing move on for quite a while afterward in a different direction, trailing a blue mist. It had to go down somewhere in the ocean, right? I'm glad it wasn't a comet or an asteroid going down in the ocean, because I'm sure the resulting tsunami would have taken a lot of life with it.

On the other hand, if I ever see such a thing again, I will really quake in my shoes, wondering whether or not it is armed. 'Cause one thing is for sure, if it's visible from the shore of the Pacific all the way to Arizona, there's no running from it.

Do you really think it was a missile test?

Lima, good question. I spent Thanksgiving with my best friend who also saw this thing. I mentioned your comment and she said she didn't believe it was a missile. I have to admit our government was suspiciously fast in issuing a statement about what it was (while taking a month to admit they mistakenly bombed that Doctors Without Borders hospital). If it were something that they couldn't identify, something that was so widely seen and recorded by so many people, would the government admit they couldn't identify it? I don't think so. I can only guess.

I have some friends in California that witnessed this as well and were a little skeptical about the missile test answer also.  Of course it could have been a terrorist type of attack that was thwarted and military testing seemed like an easier reply then getting the public alarmed.  Not really sure what to think.  I honestly don't think it was an alien, just from the movement, as if it was a astroid, meteor, or a bomb, and it going in one direction with a flame, fast behind, it did seem as it got closer to the earth it did something.

I have read where korea and russia are doing missile testing as well, so in truth, I would speculate that its something in that nature.  What I find odd is the timing and location for the event, which makes me think that it could have been  a different country launch perhaps.  Either way, we are not going to get the full story.  This I am sure of.

Even if we did get the full story, who could believe it? We've been lied to so habitually that truth doesn't even come off as truthy.

Maybe that's the best way of all for the government to cover up the truth---just tell it. But you're right, Lima, probably not this time.
